Where did all the good coders left?
Hi, I remember in 08 and 09 when I use to create a thread requesting something whether paid or unpaid, usually paid. Many quality coders come to help and usually this depends on how long they have been on the forum, mods they have created for the community, and good communication.
Now I barely see any good coder pming me to fulfill my request :l and many of the request threads in general are left open for weeks until they are abandoned by the op. All the good old coders that i had good contact with left vb.org since 2011. I really think vb 4.x was a let down that made many of the good coders leave vb.org but this change happened after the release of vb 4.x |
Let us say for a moment that you are correct and they all left because of vB4. What good is it going to do if we keep pondering and crying about it.
A lot of us have not been entirely happy with the way things went and we should criticise when needed, but after a point that criticism becomes unproductive. We have to move on from that and work to give our forums the best forum software that we can. |
Many factors dictate why you may not be getting a response. I know when I left I'd be losing jobs to people who would work for pennies or free.
This destroys the market in the long run and people move on to different and better paying gigs. |

And it really depends on the type of job. Some jobs will cost +$200 others not, some are big projects and others are small ones and relatively speaking about vbulletin related work, i don't see any project which deserve to exceed $400. After all, all the projects related to vbulletin are either design or modification. Nothing independent where you have to create an entire back-end and front-end. P.s. why can't i unlike a post I accidentally liked? Certainly this "like" modification is broken and make it seem like a rep system when it is not. I just liked someone accidentally when I really dislike this person's manners, geez. |
I would say a lot of the good coders left earlier than that. But then my age and history would be showing here.

Times change, people move on and or leave. Its the way the world works. |

And it is broken because it is missing the necessary functions i.e., to "Unlike" or "Dislike" a certain post. |

If you make comments about site functionality then I will reply to them. Get over it. Secondly, it is not broken at all, there is no unlike or dislike by design. |

It is broken because it is missing the necessary feature/function. I have my opinion and you have yours. |
Paul is not the one to blame if "dislike" is not a function here... go ask Mark at facebook to see how much time he is asked to add a "f*ck off" button...
nothing is missing... if you think it is missing, is because you are here way too much often compared to the time you're supposed to work on your own stuff... and stop hating Paul... i'm the one handling that question! |
There certainly aren't as many coders as there used to be, but there are still plenty. Take this into account, see how your response rate changes, then share. :)
EDIT: Wait, it's ok to flame Paul?! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Just kidding! |
Paul is not that bad :O

arguing removed, thread closed.

You appear to live in some delusional world where I and the other staff who do not bow to your every wish are evil. You have no clue how to follow simple rules, and I assure you I will ban you if you continue to disrupt the forum and argue with me or any of the other staff. Oh, and by all means forward it to Lawrence, it wont make any difference to any ban. |
