Hi,

I want my users to be able to have avatars, but in an effort to save on datatraffic I want them to be able to remote link them so they dont have to up them to my server.

Dalius, I dont see it either. At first I was thinking in terms of smileys...they can be remote linked. However in reference to avatars, either the user has permission to upload, or they dont. There is no "url linking" so to speak...

Note though...data traffic actually I feel will *increase* if this is possible, as the board is now going out to fetch the image. Depending on the size of the avatar, availabilty etc...could cause slight, but possible performance slowdown.

Dalius, you can upload from a different place, but the avatar will still be uploaded to your server.

Enable custom avatars for hthe forum and then get the users to look in Options under the UserCP.

Once you have enabled custom avatars, users will be able to place a URL within the options to the avatar.

But he wants to LINK the avatars, not having them uploaded to his own server.

I will look into it now, it should be possible without too much work.

I'm a webdesigner, so I know a little bit about PHP programming and stuff, just not enough... Everybody has his/her own specialty.

I couldn't get this link to work. Is this a fix that will allow remote linking avatars and block them from being uploaded to the server?

(I am still on 2.0.3, BTW.)
