Nexia's Personal Favicon per Member
1 Attachment(s)
# What it does is simple... if your users have an avatar, it will show in the navigation bar of their browser instead of the default favicon. If you visit a member's profile who has an avatar, this one will show up!
... see the screenshot for an example, or browser nexialys.net for a live version. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...hmentid=140230 # How to present this to your members... in your own words. but you can start a contest that the best avatar will win something, or make a poll for the best one, etc... it encourage interaction between members! ... and the avatar is good so the members know they are part of something! update: will now show user's avatar on member profile, blog and album. if you know some places where it would worth to show, only personal pages i forgot, just tell! update #2 (july 31): now you can see your favicon besides your Welcome message in the toplinks... like in facebook !!! update #3 (aug. 1st) corrected bug on page display inside blog section when no user selected... |
in the next release *(like in the next minutes) the action will act on someone's blog as well... i just remembered the blog... ;)
edit: done! |
Cool :)
Two files for the Product in the folder? It Looks like it's not blog ready. It brings up archive page ?....edit.....when clicking on blog. |
files are because of my coding protocol... *(and because of vB 5.0)
i need a little test on additional pages, but basically it works on my installation... so i suppose i need further tests on other pages. and what about the archive ?! my engine is not touching any code in these areas, just one variable that is deleted after usage, so if something is messed out on your site, nothing related to this script, sorry. |
You also didn't mention in your read me to upload the contents in the this upload folder to your forum root before installing the .xml plugin...
This can confuse some users... |
Nice idea, Good work :)
|

ok, updated to 1.0.2 with a new feature, i mimic the mini-avatar from facebook... see in the bottom of the screenshot! why waste a complete useful icon, hey!
|
Love the toplinks avatar you added...
|
Installed and works great.
|
looks great, what about members that use facebook connect, 2 small icons will be displayed.
could we insert an "IF" comment to remove this one if facebook connect is active? |

Tested using vBulletin 4.1.3pl5 on MAC OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion with both Safari 6.0 and FireFox 14.0.1 ?
Avatar appears fine beside user's logged in name, but does not appear on browser link navigation bar line?. Un-installed with thanks to developer for his efforts ? :) Regards, Doug |

1- your vB version is unsupported, so i will not check it. 2- if the icon is shown in the toplinks, the icon is generated, so it is supposed to show in the navigation bar... 3- Mountain Lion is not yet very stable on cache and browsers, so i can't state the unobvious... will need other systems tested... btw, a good way to see if the system works but fail on your browser is to look at the Source of the page... if the line containing the favicon is filled with the url for the image, it's bugged-browser related... Code:
<link rel="Shortcut Icon" href="XXXX" type="image/x-icon" /> |
this killed my blog style. since no member was found it jacked up the style on the main blog page. I can view individual blogs but not the blog.php
|
Just to say about the posts above.
I have Mac Mountain Lion installed on my Mac Book Pro, and It all works just as it should do, tested on 3 different browsers. This is on vBulletin 4.1.10 |
Where is Option for configure?
|
Quote:
there is no option...what do you want to configure yet?! the next version, 1.0.5, will have one single setting which will be inside the regular pages of vB Options, which is to activate or not some features that i plan on adding... |

Yes works on pages: My Blog and Blog Settings but not the other Blog pages. Firebug Code:
The character encoding of the HTML document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the page must to be declared in the document or in the transfer protocol. |

... i was stupid not checking how it behave, but i simply forgot a "is there an userid overthere!" statement! now done! |
 Installed, rate 5 and Nominated :)
Suggestion and Request First: Add settings for the top link or maybe Change this Code:
<img style="width: 18px;border: 0;vertical-align: top; top: -3px;position: Code:
<img style="width: 24px;border: 0;vertical-align: top; top: -.5px;position: Second: Have the top link avatar go to the users setting to edit/change avatar and when hovering over the avatar have the username displayed. Edit: If the top link avatar is not square it looks odd. Square would be better with out distorting the image to much. Third: square up image. Fourth: Maybe a small bug... Visiting someone's profile albums and the album is opened it presently show the viewers avatar. It would be better if it was the album owners avatar. |
all good now. thanks!!

but: #3, it's up to the admin to set up proper size for avatars... each usergroup have specific settings for this, and you can force them to be square as well.. link to the "change avatar" is on the map for the 1.0.5 version... ... the html insert will become a template for 1.0.5 so you can edit it to your will ... :) |
Oh, I just added a fourth :)
|
Is there a vB setting to force a square. How would I do this. :)

i may come with a vBulletin version of that feature one day though! |
Installed on my vb 4.2.0 patch level2 board and there is some issues. I have a custom style.
A) After installing the mod, my avatar shows up in the upper right of page next to my screen name, and that is it for my custom style. B) When displaying the board in the default style, my avatar shows up in the upper right of page next to my screen name, and my avatar shows up in the favicon image on the tab of my browser. C) But at NO point does my avatar display in the browsers address area. Is there any possible fixes for this? I have disabled this product hoping there is a cure for what seems to be a nice mod. |
