[DBTech] Dragonbyte Gallery v1 (vB4)

1 Attachment(s)
Dragonbyte Gallery is a fully functional gallery system addon for your forum that will allow your users to create their own photo albums to store and display their images. You can run multiple instance of the gallery on the same site with the same files, yet have a completely different look and function because of the modular sytem it was built on. Users can customize how their gallery profile is displayed on each instance.

Major Features

Multiple Instances You can run an unlimited number instances of the gallery on the same forum with same set of files! Each instance can have a different look and feel to it, and with enough work can have a completely different function because of the system we built it on.

AJAX integration We used AJAX wherever we could to help reduce the page reloads

Automatic resizing and thumbnail creation As long as your server can handle it, the users can upload whatever size pictures they want. The gallery will control the size displayed and stored, and will even create a thumbnail, all automatically. Users no longer have to worry about resizing their images to fit what your forum specifies. If you do not have a server with the power to resize images (GD image library can get pretty memory intensive) then you can set the gallery to reject images that do not fit into your size criteria.

User Albums Users can create their own image albums to organize and display sets of their images. Albums can also be set to hidden and/or password protected. So users who want to have images for only certain friends or not visible to anyone else at all can easily organize them.

Comment system not support other languages here, comment is in russian

kether1 06-30-2012 12:58 PM

Thanks, this looks promising. I do have a practical question. I plan to test this on a test site before a live version is used, but here is my concern:

If an image is inserted into a thread using the BB code and later the user decided to delete the image in his album, will the image still be stored in the thread or will we get the dreaded red "X" image not found?

Thank you!
Kether

BlogTwits 06-30-2012 02:07 PM

Thanks, will try it out

Hostboard 06-30-2012 02:23 PM

Will this allow a different gallery per forum?

Thanks for linking me to that, no one told me it wasn't working and I didn't happen to read those image comments heh. I'll work on getting that fixed and release a patch.

It's like any other remote image, it'll show a red x. If I retained all images the size on the server could get quite large.

I'm not sure what you mean by a gallery per forum?

Dylan

sandboa 06-30-2012 06:00 PM

I am having a slight problem. I'm running 4.2. I created a new instance. When I click on the new instance tab, the Gallery tab is highlighted rather than the new instance tab. Help would be greatly appreciated.

It's not setup to work per forum. If you are viewing the images from Gallery B though you will not see the images from Gallery A. They aren't intermixed.

The file is in the package. Make sure you uploaded it all correctly before you install the product.

I have a fix for this, I'll release the package after I'm sure I don't have any more pressing bugs. If you want to manually fix it for now

Open
dbtech/gallery/clientscript/gallery.js

Find
PHP Code:

extraparams += '&comment=' PHP.urlencode(comments);

and replace with

PHP Code:

extraparams += '&comment=' comments

It wont fix comments already submitted but new comments should show correctly.

For others that run into this, when you create a gallery instance make sure you fill out the Short Name field. It's the tab identifier and tells vB what tab you are currently on. Make it something short, without spaces or special characters, like public_gallery.

We are working on getting docs put together so sorry if you run into config problems in the meantime.

In the ACP, edit the gallery instance and make sure the image/thumb height/width is set to something. I suggest 150x150 for the thumbs and 800x600 for the full image size.

That's a pro feature as listed in the first post. Unless you did buy it, but then support should be asked for at DBT for pro stuff since it's not allowed here on vb.org.

CharlieDelta 07-01-2012 01:37 AM

Actually the watermark feature is listed as "lite" in the first post.
Oops. :)

CharlieDelta 07-01-2012 01:41 AM

If a board currently has dozens of albums and pictures, do we then have to upload them again?
Can a current album be moved over to a created category?

Whoops, fair enough! But, it's wrong. =) The description on the DBT site, it's in the Pro version (and in the mod in the Pro version). So the description needs updating here.

BlogTwits 07-01-2012 03:56 AM

Seems a bit buggy. Getting th same error message popup when saving an image. However, the image saves.

If I click on Direct Image Code or BBCode Image, they don't stay highlighted to copy.

When I copy the image code and insert into a normal forum thread, the image is broken

DragonByte Tech 07-01-2012 06:17 AM

Sorry for not being around this afternoon to fix the problems. Kids don't understand "daddy wants to fix his code" :)

I just uploaded version 1.0.1
Fixed - missing pro file error
Fixed - bad img bbcode link
Fixed - non english characters in comments

I'm also sorry about the mix up on the watermarking. I didn't catch that last section with the watermark info when I was submitting the addon. Watermarking is a pro only feature.

I'm working on a couple importers, vB Albums being one of them. I hope to have it ready to test out in the next few days. If you have a test site let me know and I'll send a copy of it to you to test before it's released.

Hey Dylan. I do have a test site and in fact that is where I am testing your mod at the moment. If it is easier to do this over at DBT just let me know and I will make a thread over there. :)

Sorry, I am a novice to all this. Any direction on how to setup a CMPS Module for 5 newest images?

Yeah, it's already in the works but do you want to create a feature request on DBT?

It's been a long time since I made one but I'll try and get a CMPS module written soon. I'll have to download the latest version as vB4 wasn't out yet last time I wrote one :)

The installation script created the folders for the default instance but the directory is not writeable. You will need to fix the permissions on the folders for the product to work correctly. Please check the permissions on the dbtech/gallery/images/upload/ and dbtech/gallery/images/upload/1 folders. Once you fix the permissions you can verify that future instances will be created correctly by checking the Image Upload Path in the ACP settings Gallery Image Options area. This is also the location that needs to be changed if you want to modify the file location.
I set the permission for folder "upload" and "upload/1" to 777 but I couldn't finish the installation process.

Skyrider 07-02-2012 05:35 AM

Uploaded an image, getting "MISSING IMAGE" with a large missing image picture.. what's this?

And how exactly do I remove images? When I click "delete" under "edit image" the black box floats around the screen and disappears from view.

Further more, the comment (reply) box is really messed up.
http://tf2lottery.com/images/Dragonb...lery-issue.jpg

(Check the bottom).. I've zoomed out to fit the image, but in reality the top bar goes through the smilies.
