DoublePost Timestamp

As of 23 Nov 2017 this modification has been withdrawn.

This adds the following enhancements to the vB core DoublePost feature.

1. Option to turn on a timestamp separator.
2. Option for the timestamp to include the time of the previous post.

Note that as in previous versions, the timestamp is fixed, i.e. it will not change if being viewed from different timezones.

All settings are located in the existing DP settings vBulletin Options > Message Posting Doublepost Options

To install, download the zip, extract the XML file and import using the vb Product Manager.

History:

v4.2.0.0 : 17-Jun-2012 : New for vBulletin 4.2.0.

Any reason why this wasn't just built into it from the start?

Paul M 06-17-2012 02:33 PM

Yes, its doesnt play well across multiple timezones.

Thats fine in a mod, but not acceptable in the core product.

Ok, thanks for the reply.
I will give it a go.

Why would I do that ? It would be pointless duplication of core functionality.

TheInsaneManiac 08-04-2012 02:00 AM

Great mod man, seriously should be in Core.

Request though, Anyway to have the customer separator to be used and just use a variable like %time or something? I also don't like that it updates the time of the original post either.

EliasAlucard 08-06-2012 01:03 AM

Keep up the good work, Paul.

When I first noticed the double post feature, I always thought it should have included a time stamp, but with relative time because of the timezone issue.

So you'd have your first post. And then the separator to your followup would say something like

---- 30 minutes later ----

or

---- after 2.5 hours ----

something like that. See what I mean? Timezone agnostic because it's all relative.

zonaenlinea 08-24-2012 10:27 PM

thanks very good

dougdirac 09-20-2012 06:45 PM

How does this feature work on vBulletin.org?

Paul M 09-20-2012 11:56 PM

Pretty much the same.

dougdirac 09-21-2012 01:27 AM

But you said your mod only gives the time for a specific time zone, right? I noticed the vb.org one uses [date] and [time] bbcodes which I assume calculates the time according to user settings.

Paul M 09-21-2012 05:59 PM

Yes they do.

dougdirac 09-21-2012 06:53 PM

So how do we get the mod that vb.org is using. Not adjusting for time zones or at lease just using relative time, makes this mod pretty pointless on an international forum. Even for one that's just based in the US.

Paul M 09-21-2012 07:48 PM

The time and date bb codes are nothing to do with this modification, the standard code in vb4.2, or indeed any previous version of it.
They are just two custom BB Codes we have here. All we are doing is using the custom separator text that is standard with the double post feature to output them.

Thanks Paul!

I have a question Paul,

Do I have to install this mod on 4.2.3 ?

Please let me know

Paul M 06-23-2015 05:35 PM

If you want the features it provides then yes.

akz645 07-31-2015 09:39 PM

I'll add a couple of screenshots, so people can see (as the original post has none).

The first update was without this modification.
The second one was with this modification.

These are my settings:

The last 2 options appear due to this modication.
