vBFoster - 3 Ways To Protect Your Forum From Spammers [LITE] [UPDATED]
 

Hello All,

We decided to release this feature as a separate product because most of the users want this huge spamming protection that is working in a three ways to protect your forum, Let's take a look :)

Overview :
This modification is a spamming detector, Which is detecting the spammer when he is creating a new thread, If vBFoster has any doubt in this member to be a spammer then vBFoster will not show the thread to the public until the administrator check the thread and then decide if he want to approve this thread or saying thanks to vBFoster and remove the thread :)

The first way, Registration process :

vBFoster will contact to a huge daily update spamming network 3AntiSpam.Com that is part of our systems, Then our system here will reply to the vBFoster in your forum if this e-mail and IP is a spammer or not, If the e-mail is listed in our system then vBFoster will stop the registration of this member.

The second way, Posting process [LITE VERSION]:

vBFoster spamming detecting tool, Is a system that can detect the spammer when he will try to post a new thread, You have many options that vBFoster will allows you to detect the spammer, For example that this member has no posts before, He will post links into the thread ... etc

The third way, Cleaning up process :

If he passed all of these steps, You still have the option to "One Touch Spam Cleaner" and after vBFoster one touch spam cleaner finished his work, It will report the user info to our systems so the other forums that is POWERED BY vBFoster will not see this guy in their forums

So, As you see vBFoster will completely protect your forum against spammers with these three ways.

Today I'm very happy to announce the LITE version of our spamming manager which is get some of the SECOND WAY feature but not all of the features.

LITE VERSION :

• Has zero posts
• Posting URLs in threads with zero posts
• His registration date is today

Pro Version :

• The First Way Of Protection by checking the e-mail from our 3AntiSpam.Com Database in registration process
• The Second Way Which will get these features :
  • Has zero post [LITE VERSION]
  • Posting URLs in threads with zero posts [LITE VERSION]
  • His registration date is today [LITE VERSION]
  • Posted more than x threads and his registration date is today
  • Detecting based on blacklisted POST keywords
  • Detecting based on thread title keywords
  • Usergroups permissions
• The Last And the third way of protection by one touch spam cleaner and then report the user info to 3AntiSpam.Com Database.

INSTALLATION :
In attachments you will found a zip file, Extract it and then you should see two folders the first of it is "Upload" open it and upload it's content to your forum root directory, And the second folder is "XML" which contains the XML product that you will import it from your vBulletin Admin Control Panel.

So it's basically like spam-o-matic.

No spam-o-matic check the e-mail in registration process, If the spammer passed the registration process he will be able to post spamming threads in your forum. but that is a spamming detector when he creating a new thread not in registration process, Please check the first post again :)

The Glowhost Spam-o-Matic add-on at https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=248042 also has options for checking posts (all, under a certain post-count, or new registrations only) and sending them to moderation. As far as I can tell, it does everything your add-on does.

To be blunt, yours appears to be seriously over-priced.

If I was going to post then the above says it all.
I've used Spam-oMatic for 2 years now, and it does everything and more than this lite version or the Gold version, and the Spam-O-Matic is free and works great.

Even when Spammers get through the registration, there are lots of settings set up which stops any Spam coming through, urls, words many things, it has some great options built into it.
You should try it.

As I said, vBulletin.org is not a place to talk about any paid modification, If you want to discuss any thing about the PRO version should be in the modification site not at vbulletin.org.

Well, baiting them here to get them to your site for wayyyy over-priced mods shouldn't be allowed either.

I use GlowHost since it's available. It's free - free in this way doen't mean free of charge - and it does its work.

With GlowHost we can use StopForumSpam and Akismet, and we can check not only against eMail, we can check against IP and Username, too. I only check against eMail and IP, in the last two years I had not one spam post.

I don't think so, I have the price to pay for your mod. And that's my business.

So there must be some very good reasons why I should change from GlowHost to yours, this reasons I don't see.

Specific pricing talk has been removed- Neither side should bring up specific pricing.

It is true, this mod is overpriced and doesn't rival spam-o-matic to justify the cost. It would be foolish to swap out spam-o-matic for a paid product (wayyyyy overpriced at that) when there is something that is just as good if not better here on vb.org that is free. Just because a coder creates a lite and paid mod doesn't give them the right to shut down all discussions of how the pro version compares to a separate free version available here on vbulletin.org. I suggest you reply to to your potential customers in a polite way and if there are features that are missing from the alternative free product, you think about implementing them to generate sales. If you're going to sell a mod extremely similar to a mod here at vbulletin.org that works with the current version, I suggest you outline the benefits that make it better.

GRRRRRR... This just takes you to your super-long advertising thread with 10 OTHER products, none of which 'protects your forum from spammers.' I think you have some great products, but your advertising model is very deceptive right now.

Please follow Marco's advice, he knows this forum and it's rules as he is a vauled member here. Discussions on your pro/paid products should take place on your forum respectively.

I welcome more addons to combat spam. Unfortunately I do not see many attractive functions yet, but hope to see that in the future.

I would much rather see stopforumspam than any other service. Simply because SFS has a large userbase and has proven to be very effective.

The keyword blacklist is an important feature, which would make this addon stand out, if this feature would be added to the lite version.

Other features that would make this addon attractive are:

• Bad Behavior and Project Honeypot
• Registration time check (ISBOT)
• Hidden registration fields visible to bots only
• Multiple account detection and prevention
• Fake email domains blocklist

If you would combine major functions like these in a well supported addon, then that would be appealing. Both for your lite product and for your gold version.
