Transfer XMB To VBulletin?

Hello, my name is Jordan. I own and run a large Britney Spears website forum called Exhale ( http://www.breatheheavy.com/exhale/ )

XMB seems to be a dying forum software with little support offered from programmers. It is also a little buggy.

I'd be interested to see what the process is to convert. Exhale currently has 367754 topics / 6132100 posts / 30414 members.

Also, when I make a post on the main page ( http://www.breatheheavy.com/ ) it posts simultaneously in the Britney Spears news section of the forum ( http://www.breatheheavy.com/exhale/f...lay.php?fid=11 )

Right now I have the xmb code tweaked out to run pretty fast. Will vbulletin slow down the dedicated server?

Of course this will be freelance, paid work.

Thanks for taking the time to read this,

Jordan

vBulletin has an importing tool called Impex. You can read about it here - https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex . The list of system modules it will import, along with exactly waht will be imported, is here - https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/...ex_module_dump

Vbulletin is pretty fast if you have your server configured properly.
Google vbulletin server optimization.

I feel nervous importing this all myself. Where could I go to request a professional's services to transfer it all? Any help would be greatly great appreciated.

Once you have a license you can use the "Requests for Paid Services" forum here on vBulletin.org to request paid help.

If you don't have a license yet you will need to make your requests on other websites.

Converting to vb is easy and the conversion will not touch the source forum in any way shape or form. Meaning you can give it a try without fearing of messing up your forum.

There is a readme file inside the Impex package with detailed instructions. All you have to do is follow them and you should be all set. But if you still feel uncomfortable doing the conversion yourself then post at the Paid Section as adviced above.

I need to require a license first? Ok I'll look into that today. XMB seems to be screwing with my forum. Especially when there's breaking news and everyone floods to the site, my server can't handle it all. I'm hoping vbulletin would be less of a load on the server.

Borbole, thanks for your advice! My other big thing is when I make a post in Wordpress, it simultaneously posts in The britney spears news section of my XMB. I'm hoping Vbulletin can do that too.

I feel uncomfortable purchasing a license first before someone can tell me this data can be migrated :[

Yes, you must buy a license in order to convert and use the vb. You must also validate your account here in this forum as well in order to get full access.

By default vb can not do that but you can request a custom bridge to do that with vb as well.

The most important data like posts, threads, users and forums will be converted over fine. Some other things like passwords, permissions, attachments and I think the pm''s will not be converted over. That is what I remember from a xmb conversion I did last year for someone here.

Interesting. That's a big risk, spending $200. I'd love to use you though if I do. I'll give it some thought this afternoon.

I think that first you should work on fixing up these issues:

http://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.brea...y.com/DLB647Qs

Getting a cdn can help immensely if you put images/javascript & other static resources on it.

This page has 9 external Javascript scripts. Try combining them into one.
Combining them can help a bit as well. Go through the report & fix it up as much as humanly possible.

I wish I had more experience, I'm not sure how to remedy these problems :/
