MGC vBCovers
 

MGC vBCover is a new enhancement to your forum !

It provides your users with the possibility to add covers when posting new subjects, covers which are then displayed in the subject itself as well as in the thread lists on forumdisplay.

Covers can be input either manually or automatically retrieved thanks to the thread title from many sources (IMDB, Amazon, Google Books, and many other).

Detailed features

Following is a list of MGC vBCover features (pro and lite):

• Simple install

  • Manually by entering the image url of the cover
  • Automatically from:
    • IMDB for films

    • [PRO] Fnac [France] for films, music albums, video games as well as books
    • [PRO] All CD covers for music
    • [PRO] Google Books for books
    • [PRO] Game Trailers for video games
    • [PRO] Jeux-Videos.com [France] for video games
• Fully configurable:
  • Set wether to upload manually entered image to server (automatic ones are uploaded due to restrictions reasons)
  • [PRO] Number of covers between which the user can choose the cover
  • Option to display or not the cover at the top of the thread page
  • Option to display or not the cover at the top of the thread's first post
  • Maximum width/height of the cover on thread page
  • Maximum width/height of the covers in thread list
  • Type of link on covers (no link, thread or full cover)
  • [PRO] Number of covers, type of covers retrieval and width for the thread list animation
  • [PRO] Active sources for cover retrieval
  • [PRO] Supported platform for video games

How can we view a live demo. I don't feel like joining another website right now.

The demo forum is now visible to guests ;)

However to test the posting features with automatic retrieval from IMDB (and other sources as pro is installed on my website) you will have to register.

Any plans in the future for a widget, both vertical and horizontal.

For CMS ? Like latest covers ? Or Cover animation on CMS widget ?

I am open to suggestion of course, there is a project tools on my forum where user can suggest new features.

I know this states 4.1.x. so does this mean no way it's going to work on 4.0.x ?

You have to activate it in the forum where you want the mod to be active through forums configuration in the admincp :)

how can we try the demo..i couldn't see anything about with plugin.

If you click on the demo link, you'll see the covers displayed.

However to see the covers retrieval when creating a new thread you have to register as you can understand I won't open the thread creation to unregistered user, too much spam would arise...

For the CMS, yes a widget. Since you are showing covers, maybe a way for users to preview trailers, or songs that go with that cover.

The CMS thing is feasible.

However the trailers preview is a bit more complicated as it would mean download the trailer from IMDB as they don't allow embedding stuff from their site unless you download them as I do for the covers.

This looks cool, but is there any way to pull out data from imdb such as rating, year, short descriptions and main actors...?
Also to work with cms/cms articles would be great :)

That might be possible for the year rating and so and so forth, but it's not meant to right now.

Regarding CMS/CMS articles that would perhaps be possible, feature requests are to be made through the project tools page of my forum.

I would say that I can buy the pro version!

But I have seen that changing the image size changes in each position set, you can choose the size for the three positions?

You can change two sizes, the one in the threads list and the one in the thread itself for both locations in the thread.

I have a problem in properly display images in the topic.
I put an image to Topic Bloodforge, and the icon appears in the topic below and not to bloodforge.

I've attached a picture to explain.

Moreover, how can I not bring up the images in the topics list?

is it possible to have these images auto upload to a set album on the admins account so if anyone uploads image by url it goes into album and returns album url ?? would be a great feature.. thanks

upload problem check if mgc_products/mgc_vbcovers/covers permissions are 777

Why don't i see the first time the picture in de Topics
When i change the thread, and put again the url in ... or input own cover URL:
Then i see the picture in the topic..
