vBAnalytics: What is it?
vBAnalytics provides detailed and customized analytics from traffic including bounce rates, landings, pageviews, visits and many more customized just for vBulletin! Think Google Analytics but made for vBulletin!

Uses
If you ever wanted Google Analytics to provide more attention to your forum specific aspects than this is a must have for you. It provides statistics specifically requested from experienced board owners and displays them in an friendly and knowledgeable manner. Allowing even the most novice of board owners to know exactly what his users like and dislike in his community.

Notes:

1. Do not run any of the scheduled tasks manually. They are set up to run at the allotted times for a reason. If you run a scheduled task manually your analytics data will be extremely inaccurate.

Receiving all sorst of errors on vb 4.1.0. pl2. Forum home page littered and defaced with error messages.

Hmm. That's weird. For some reason there's no sessionhash. This may be an issue with that vB version. If you could forward me some FTP and Admin login I will be able to really get to the bottom of this.

For now disable the modification and I will look into vB 4.1.0 and see if there's any reason it's not working for that version.


p.s I am the developer of this modification- just using my personal account.

EDIT:

I am unable to reproduce this on 4.1.0 patch level 8. Due to how patches work, I can not test patch level 2.

Were you personally the receiver of this error? If so could you tell me what exactly you did to get this error?

I've uploaded a hotfix that may fix this issue. Even if you are not getting this issue you should apply this update as it will slightly increase the accuracy of the analytics.

if i go to read a post it appears at the top of the site above to logo.Its also posted in the top 10 stats

Can you clarify what you mean by "read a post"? I've read many posts without seeing the error pop-up. Can you tell me which shoutbox you use (MGC Evo, DBTECH, etc).

To clarify, the error you are getting is nothing bad, but I would like to make sure you don't see it after the next update :).

im using vsa advanced forum stats

I'm sorry, but I accidentally overwrote the previous hotfix that addressed this issue.

I do have one question, I'm not seeing any data. I ran the scheduled task but no data is showing up. I ran the maintenance things too.
I installed this on a brand new site that has no real users other than admin and a test user but both accounts are adding things and visiting pages, but no data shows up.

Thoughts?

Hi,

Please do not run the scheduled tasks manually as it will provide inaccurate results. I realized this during the beta stages of the mod development which is why the scheduled task responsible for tracking the data was modified to ensure it would only once per day. Since you have ran it already, further manual running of it will not generate any more entries until the next day.

The task is designed to run the first second of every day so that it collects the data from yesterday and stores it into the database. This explains why you do not see any data- as, I'm assuming, you are updating the form to show today's data which will not be shown until the task runs 12:00 AM tomorrow board time. The data you have gotten from manually running the task will be shown as yesterday (however, depending on timezone settings you may need to actually update the form a day before that to see the data for that day; this will be addressed in v1.1.0)

Since this is a test board, there is no actual harm in running the results manually, but they will be stored as yesterday's date as the task was not designed nor intended to track in increments less than daily. If you want to see real-time stats you may see them in your ACP. These stats are purged when the scheduled task runs successfully (once per day).

As a side but relevant note, the v1.1.0 update will have a pro option allowing for hourly tracking which will mean faster, more accurate across multiple timezones, results. :)

installed, looked fine, applied hotfix above just in case, checked it a few hours later & got MySQL error on the analytics page. did a full reinstall & then got this error:

This error continues to elude and frustrate me. Are you positive you redownloaded the package and reuploaded it?

It would really help if you could PM me FTP and ACP information so that I can troubleshoot this as I am simply unable to reproduce this error and the installation running on DBTech has never once encountered this error in the entire month+ it's been installed (and that site gets some serious traffic).

I have uploaded one final hotfix that will completely solve this issue. Please redownload and reupload the following files in the package:

• dbtech/vbanalytics/hooks/global_start.php

If you still have this error I will need FTP and Admin login credentials as I have exhausted the list of reasons why this may be happening and am still unable to reproduce this either on my localhost or on sites it is installed to that I have access to.


I apologize to the users who have had this annoying error plague them and I thank them for having patience. It is tough to solve a bug you are unable to reproduce but I am confident I have finally fixed the SOB. :)

Hello,

1.0.4 of vBAnalytics has been released. It includes many of the hotfixes I've provided here since initial release.

vBAnalytics 1.0.4:

• Fix: Certain third-party AJAX based add-ons would show a PHP warning.
• Fix: Rare database error that would be caused sometimes due to sessionhash conflicts.
• Fix: A few template typos in: dbtech_vbanalytics_results
• Change: Reworked session tracking into a manner that follows a session even if they log-out then log-in, etc.

To apply the update, you'll need to download the zip file, unpackage it then upload and overwrite the files. In addition, you'll need to reimport the product XML files as I've corrected some template typos.

Does this cover one of the most important metrics? That being registration funnel.

Like, how they arrived, what keyword they used or where they were linked from initially so we know what traffic sources/keywords are sending us users that register?

Will you be adding the option to remove the "HiVelocity Hosting" from the copyright footer as with all other DBT mods? ;)

Wow. Sorry about that :o. We use a shell to quickly create the outlines of new mods and, for some reason, the setting for that wasn't included. I will make sure the shell gets fixed and that the option is added in 1.1.0. In the meantime, if you want to manually remove the copyright we won't hold it against you- or you could forward me your ACP information and I can do it for you if you are unsure how.

I have received no error reports on here or back at our support forums regarding v1.0.4.

Update:

v1.1.0 Beta has been released at our forums. Following a successful beta period a lite version will be released which includes an update to this thread. Full details of what's new in v1.1.0 can be found at our forums and will be posted here following the lite release.

Included in this release are registration and user tracking, Google Analytics template integration, and, as promised, the Hivelocity branding removal option. ;)

Just had a member of staff on my forums notice that the analytics page remains visible regardless of what the settings are in the admin CP for their usergroup (including for unregistered users). Anyone else having this issue?

This has stopped working on my forums, seems to be around the 24th, not sure if that's when I updated vb or not but the graph has just flat lined ever since.
