Content here is getting copied

<a href="http://www.vbulletinguru.com/2012/vb4-add-text-message-to-navbar/" target="_blank">http://www.vbulletinguru.com/2012/vb...age-to-navbar/</a>

I posted my question here and went out on Google and came accross this. This cat is scrapping content from here in real time. Looks like they're doing it to vb com also.
Isn't that in violation of the TOS for here? Besides just plain stealing content?

not if rss feeds are on

setishock 03-15-2012 01:56 AM

Okay... But how is that set to nab new threads in real time? Wouldn't that be chewing up bandwidth on both ends pretty bad?

vbenhancer 03-15-2012 08:26 PM

the guys copy the site, and so ?! they can't beat the real thing, so it's completely useless to panic...

Pandemikk 03-15-2012 08:34 PM

Not really an RSS feed. An RSS feed would link back to this site unless for some reason vb.org has disabled that.

Paul M 03-16-2012 02:23 PM

They seem to have "For the full text, visit vBulletin.org" (linked) in them, at least all the ones I saw did.

setishock 03-17-2012 04:26 PM

If you follow the link I posted then click the home tab you don't see any "more" link.

its not hard to remove that in the rss settings

setishock 03-18-2012 06:18 AM

Then that's plagerism. Besides the hits from the search engines that's just messed up.
@vbenhancer > It's not panicing, it's pressing the point. There's a difference.

You could block requests from that URL and IP i believe . You can also go through your AWstats logs to check for incredibly active bots and scrapers and block them accordingly.

Oh i know you were not in panic... i alert others... i know you are calm, relax, steady... :)

btw, having YOUR content on another site would be different... vb.org have precious content to share... some guys would not appreciate finding their site's content elsewhere...

From my point of view, if i'd wanted my offerings to posted at another site i would have done that myself, as far as im concerned the things a post here are for here alone!

Although that won't be the case will it
There are so many mods on here you can find all over the net which have been ripped from here then uploaded onto an illegal site to download

Pandemikk 03-19-2012 02:45 AM

Not much can be done about it. People rip and steal content for ratings all the time. You could file a DMCA then they just counter-claim. Not really worth the effort.

I can't wait for the day these illegal sites can just be taken down on the spot.

Shazz 03-19-2012 02:52 AM

RSS feeds don't help out the site any, there are tons of sites that link up to different RSS feeds everyday, that's not illegal
I have a RSS Feed for vbenhancer's inspiring quotes :D

Adam H 03-19-2012 03:08 AM

RSS does what its designed to do, Syndicate your content . If a site has an RSS feed its allowing other sites/users to syndicate its content.

Syndication also isnt a bad thing, it doesnt cause duplicate content , its not plagiarism because they have your consent to use it when you activate your RSS feeds.

RSS = Really Simple Syndication , does what it says on the tin.

When Google implements the new page rank format it isn't going to matter any more.

What is the new pagerank format ?

setishock 03-19-2012 06:04 AM

I may have misinterpeted that but isn't SEO just to get you up on a search page?
