A better Firefox Browser

So I've heard a lot about how people use to love Firefox, but can agree the latest copies of Firefox are slower and use more resources. Firefox also does not yet have a 64bit version.

To this I say, Water Fox (Waterfox).

http://waterfoxproj.sourceforge.net/

Faster, uses less resources, 64bit support, and works with all your normal Firefox add-ons.

Yep. Good stuff :)

Presumably this wont work unless you have a 64bit windows install ?

That would be correct. :)

By default Waterfox uses the same path profiles as Firefox.

This is for compatibility, so that you may use any Firefox compatible plug-in, add-on, or extension.

There is nothing to sort. This is the default.

all of Mozilla apps use the same paths, for compatibility and interaction... looks like Unix ways to do so... the future is near *(a rare 1974 phrase!)

Off topic:

I actually wish Unix / Linux all used the same paths for everything. I can install program X on one distro and on another distro it will be different.

I prefer Chrome and Firefox (in that order) ... No need for another browser in my life ;)

Waterfox is Firefox, just the way it should be ;)

I think Firefox is a very easy to use software, is also very convenient, a lot of plug-ins are also good.Easy to view with identification.

I actually just switched to Chrome this last weekend. I never thought I would leave firefox, but it is just too laggy lately for me and Chrome is nice and fast.

Good thing you did. I moved over a year ago.. actually when Chrome first came out.

It is MUCH quicker than most browsers.

Though in the next day or two, they will be secretly taking our data from Chrome and storing it on their own servers.

Princeton 02-29-2012 08:56 PM

they already do this...

I love it. You can move from one device to the next and still have all your bookmarks, passwords, etc.

yes but it allows them to monitor how you behave eg. what you look for and SELL this data to other companies.

So if someone wants to learn how to market to you, they would buy the data off Google and know more about you.

So what else is new? That's been going on for years in one form or fashion.
Last car I bought new from a Buick dealer and 2 weeks later my mailbox was full of ads for tires and oil changes. Selling demographic info is a big business.

FreshFroot 10-28-2013 06:38 AM

A car is different.. they only have your address and name.

Chrome stores ALL your searches, bookmarks, usernames, passwords etc..

You might as well give Buick your keys to your home too. Oh and tell them where all the valuables are stored so they can take them too.

That comparison would further require your household items to regenerate.

Chrome is Safari. Just with all of Google's trackers and aggregators, spyware and adware installed. :-)

It is fast. I use both Chrome and FF, as well as Slim Browser (IE-but not bloated at all).

I installed a program, to stop any tracking of me. Working fantastic. Is sort of shocking how many sites track us around the Internet.
