Facebook-Comments to CMS-Articles

1 Attachment(s)
Hello my vB-friends!

I have a little modification for your vB-CMS!

With this little template-edit you can show facebook-comments under your CMS-articles.

Sorry for my bad english, i doe my best! (iam german)

What is needed for this modification:

- standard facebook account.
- facebook application, anyone can set one up and it's simple http://www.facebook.com/developers/createapp.php

Now the template-edits:

Search template:
vbcms_content_article_page

and find

HTML Code:

{vb:raw comment_block}
Add below this code:

HTML Code:

<!-- FB Comments -->
        <h2 class="blockhead" style="padding-top:5px;"><span class="optiontitle">Facebook comments</span></h2>
        <div id="thread_tags_list" class="thread_info_block blockbody formcontrols floatcontainer">
          <div class="blockrow floatcontainer">
                <div id='tag_list_cell'>
    <div id="fb-root"></div><script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#appId=YOURAPPID&amp;xfbml=1"></script><fb:comments href="http://www.YOURSITE.com/{vb:raw relpath}" expr:xid="YOUR-APP-ID" simple="1" num_posts="10" width="500" publish_feed="true"></fb:comments><br/>
                </div>
            </div>
        </div>
<img src="clear.gif" height="10" /><br />
        <!-- /FB Comments -->

Be sure you have change YOUR_APP_ID to your app-id!

Now it looks like the screenshot.

If you use it, please push install, rate and nominate

Hope you like it :)

Big thank to Gemma & Noli for help!

Don't misguide others, you haven't installed this mod.

datoneer 01-30-2012 06:57 AM

Great.Installed

xeon1 01-30-2012 10:26 AM

installed this.
I have a question: How can I change this to use a comment thread for each article on the CMS?
I don't want all the comments in each article page. I'd prefer people to comment on the specific article.
I tried using {vb: raw href} but the plugin goes compatibility mode..

Help?

Try to use this modification:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=239023

and set the code from the other modification below the code in my manual.

gariksher 01-31-2012 09:02 AM

Thanks!
Installed

Can I use this modification in blogs ? and how ?

Kraxell 01-31-2012 12:12 PM

Of curse. You must edit only the blog-template.

nerowolfe 01-31-2012 01:00 PM

Perfect! Ty

xeon1 01-31-2012 04:16 PM

no go.
it says "the comment plugin requires a href parameter" even though I did not remove your code bit. I only pasted the other code bit under it.

Kraxell 01-31-2012 05:57 PM

I'll check it tomorow.

Kraxell 02-01-2012 10:40 AM

I have a methode to show the comments only for the exactly articles but i have a more elegant method but i must test it today and give then feedback (this evening).

Kraxell 02-02-2012 03:27 PM

Update available. Thanks to Gemma!

dang3rzon3 02-13-2012 02:09 PM

installed. thanks

dang3rzon3 02-13-2012 07:12 PM

I see this message on alla pages:

"Attenzione: questo plugin per i commenti sta funzionando in modalità di compatibilità, ma non contiene ancora dei post. Prova a specificare un "href" esplicito, come suggerito nella documentazione sul plugin dei commenti, per sfruttare tutte le funzionalità del plugin."

How to set a dinamyc href, working with vbseo ?

GameOverViper 02-18-2012 06:58 PM

Just installed this. Thanks!

xeon1 02-23-2012 04:35 PM

I don't understand why but I still get the compatibility mode.
I did replace the app ID and I did add this code in the right place.

Can you help me?
my vbulletin uses friendly re-write mode now but it didn't work before either...

EDIT: it seems it works fine but I'm still curious about the compatibility mode. it disappears after the 1st comment is written..

Hey,

try this and give feedback pls, because i cant test it yet.

Find
HTML Code:

<fb:comments expr:xid="YOUR_APP_ID" simple="1" num_posts="10" width="500" publish_feed="true">
replace with

HTML Code:

<fb:comments href="http://yoursite.com" expr:xid="YOUR_APP_ID" simple="1" num_posts="10" width="500" publish_feed="true">
Please change yoursite.com and YOUR_APP_ID.

dormopoco 02-27-2012 08:31 PM

Do you know how to disable suggest this change when the comments are disable?

something I guess.

<vb:if condition="$comment_block == disable">

BF777 03-20-2012 08:30 PM

Do the comments show up as Facebook status updates?

In other words, if I comment on an article, will it show up on my Friend's Newsfeed?

BF777 03-20-2012 09:57 PM

I also keep getting some debugger error.

Does this mod support redirects? I just changed my domain name a few days ago so I have a redirect from the old domain name to the new one.

Noli 04-02-2012 06:33 PM

Here is the code to get rid of the compatiblity mode error. This code also sets one comment box per cms article, so you dont have all the comments mixed in alle the articles.

Code:

<!-- FB Comments -->
        <h2 class="blockhead" style="padding-top:5px;"><span class="optiontitle">Facebook Kommentare</span></h2>
        <div id="thread_tags_list" class="thread_info_block blockbody formcontrols floatcontainer">
          <div class="blockrow floatcontainer">
                <div id='tag_list_cell'>
    <div id="fb-root"></div><script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#appId=YOURAPPID&amp;xfbml=1"></script><fb:comments href="http://www.YOURSITE.com/{vb:raw relpath}" expr:xid="YOUR-APP-ID" simple="1" num_posts="10" width="500" publish_feed="true"></fb:comments><br/>
                </div>
            </div>
        </div>
<img src="clear.gif" height="10" /><br />
        <!-- /FB Comments -->

just change all the stuff, just a little sidenote, the link in href isnt vbseo compatbile. i dont think that should be a big problem.

xeon1 04-08-2012 08:08 AM

Noli, Thank you! You're a life saver :)

Kraxell 04-08-2012 08:10 AM

I'll take a look at nolis code and modifiy my :)

Kraxell 04-09-2012 12:37 PM

Code is fixed. Thank to Noli for his help!

Noli 04-09-2012 02:16 PM

btw. this should also work if you use the code under {vb:raw similarthreads} in SHOWTHREAD.

BF777 04-09-2012 10:57 PM

It would be cool, if a fb comment will improve the comments count on the Homepage.

Is this possible?

Luiz Biazus 10-11-2012 01:28 AM

is that possible use FANPAGE instead APP?

horseguards 09-19-2015 12:16 AM

I have installed this mod (vBulletin 4.2.3) and it seems to be that works, but I get the old comment form also there.

Pls check the image http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/ima...597245b580ebcf

thanks!

horseguards 10-10-2015 01:11 PM
