Sorry, you are not allowed to 'Like' this post.

I thought it was maybe just a thread was closed or something (even though I was able to reply)
but now I see I get this message everywhere if I try to "heart" or "like" a post.

Is this new system already down?
I didn't see anything in this feedback forum on the first page

Max Taxable 01-23-2012 08:16 PM

I think it's got to do with how old the post is you're tryna like. I liked yours here, no problem.

Nope, its working fine.

As Max says, there are some time limits on liking a post (six months generally). The limit doesnt apply to modifications.

Sorry to tell you this boss but I'm getting it on Modifications first posts, for example (for me at least) I tried to like this just now:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=2289870

And received the same:

Sorry, you are not allowed to 'Like' this post.
When you have a spare minute will you take another look for me, permission in a usergroup perhaps?

Thanks Paul :D

Edit: Also just to clarify I noticed this a little while back but forgot to post, can't remember if one of the kids came running in the room shooting me with a dart gun or not lol but sorry for not notifying you then this post reminded me and I tested to confirm... do we not have a -5 font size on here? ;)

I received the same error for the modification above

Boofo 01-24-2012 03:09 AM

Same here on the first post. The second post went through fine.

Hmmm.

Im pretty sure the first post of a release thread is supposed to be exempt, and the fact its been liked in the past would seem to suggest so, but I cant actually remember.

Please log this example in Jira.

kh99 01-25-2012 09:54 PM

When I try to "Like" Brooks' post in this thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=2292388) it tells me I must Like someone else first, but in my list of 10 latest Likes given, he only appears once and it's not even the last Like I gave. ETA:...maybe this isn't a probem, maybe I just don't understand the "Like" rules?

Oh, you have to like two others between liking posts of the same person? Then that's the problem. :)

nvm.

HMBeaty 01-25-2012 11:40 PM

Seems I get the "You are not allowed to like this post" when trying to "like" this modification.....which was released today lol

Simon Lloyd 01-26-2012 05:17 AM

I've "Liked" two other posts and kh99 appears 3rd in my last 10 likes, just tried to like him in this thread ('cos he's a nice guy :)) and it wouldn't let me, my last like for him was October last year!, ForceHSS doesn't appear in my last 10 likes and i was allowed to "Like" him.

Lynne has already logged the issue in Jira, it wont be looked at until at least this weekend. :)

Brandon Sheley 01-26-2012 09:11 PM

Glad it's being looked at :)

Max Taxable 01-26-2012 09:33 PM

"Thanks" on vBulletin predates facebook, does it not?

Paul was talking to another member of Staff (Mike) asking him to put it in Jira. We log problems on this site that we want looked at into our own Jira project. That is our way of keeping track of what is being worked on. Sorry that is annoying to you.

ah got ya, I'm just use to seeing that phrase at vb.com for everything...
it really seems vbulletin uses it customers to help troubleshoot their code which is wrong imo

Hey, at least we're down under 1,000 bugs in the current GOLD release ;)

Thanks

vbenhancer 01-27-2012 03:22 PM

bah, it's the same at Walmart... people make jokes over the staff, so the company change the staff... at Microsoft, they name nobody so it's always Bill's fault... rofl

testing products and having the clients being the testers, always been, always will be...

McDonalds do it publically on purpose,. they launch a new meal and say "if people love it, we keep it... else we change its name for next year..."

:)

btw, you all fight for nothing, i'm snowing outdoor, go play.

Well that's better than leaving a exploit in your product for over *cough vbseo *cough *cough if you think about it deeply though you'll see Paul is right and he's not a liar, he did not intentionally put this up and say "Let me use these fools as Guinea Pigs" <-- I know you at least know that much Brandon and can agree with what I'm saying there :D.

Well that's not Paul's fault nor his likes system "codes" fault.

Edit: Wait.. whatever happened to your vBulletin sites? I see nothing but xenforo now? I mean just saying if your not even running vB on a site why are you still hanging out here... see where I'm headed with this? Regardless it's nice to see you out and about and I miss you, if it were not for those meddling kids and their infernal dogforo I would see you here more often :p.

Except here, we are truly a volunteer based community and you can't hang a man for trying now can you?

Well... you would be the only one who would reply with some off the wall wit to that one liner I just slapped down so don't lol.

Everyone just blame me, Mikey because "Mikey likes it" :p.

vbenhancer 01-27-2012 10:21 PM

i would ?!

Paul M 01-28-2012 10:39 PM

Should be fixed now.

Sunka 01-29-2012 04:46 AM

Hmmm.

Like is fixed, but I can not Tag/Untag or Installed/Uninstalled any MOD now.

Merjawy 01-29-2012 05:16 AM

I am having some issues today

I can't tag or install a mod. not sure what else is wrong I haven't checked

If I click on Downloaded: from thread listing, it will change to Installed.. but can't Install/Uninstall from within the thread

EDIT:
Add Comment works
Edit Settings works
Mark as Installed/Uninstalled doesn't work
Tag Modification/Untag... doesn't work
Nominate for MOM doesn't work

Jump to Comments works
Like works

TheLastSuperman 01-29-2012 06:28 AM

Hmm I logged in to clear out some spam and upon testing I can confirm this, I'll open a new ticket in Jira please stand by for a update on this and thanks for reporting you two!

I received the message:

Code:

You do not have permission to perform this action
Edit: Ticket submitted.

Paul M 01-29-2012 12:36 PM

*sigh*

Fixing one has broke the security token on the others.

Edit: Fixed the thread based tokens.

Merjawy 01-29-2012 01:49 PM

Confirm all clear now

Thanks

I'm not happy with the recent vbseo exploit & I've already started removing it from client sites.
Not sure what this has to do with anything but nice job trying to change the subject.

My comment really has nothing to do at all with Paul at all...

I was stating the fact that the answer to most bugs on the vBulletin framework (and now I guess vb.org) is to "make a ticket".
It gets tiring that even when users make a bug noticeable, the staff's first answer is to make a ticket.
Doesn't the staff at vbulletin.com get PAID to do what they do?
See the difference between paid staff and PAYING customers. ;)

I still have a valid vBulletin license and 100's of vBulletin clients.
I check up on the progress for my clients, not for me.. I've moved on ;)

Glad I could help everyone out and bring this to the staff attention, you are welcome.

vbenhancer 01-29-2012 03:27 PM

like said by the staff here:

if you have problems with a product, a plugin or a hack, you need to post your problem in that hack's thread or contact the author to have support...

if Paul's feature is giving you heartache, why not contacting him directly, to avoid pointless smalltalks about things that are unrelated to support?! *(or simply post only your bug report and leave the discussion afterward...)

something guys you are worst than me!

Paul M 01-29-2012 04:04 PM

Nothing to see now, move along people.

Erm I feel the same but not going that route myself and I try, I do try but couldn't even pull it off, heck I just now noticed I left out the "for over a year" in my initial comment geesh :p.

Well it needs to be in the queue, they can mark those as whatever they wish and proceed to take action however doing that in the forums is not a option, mark the thread as read or do some silly mod? I prefer the Jira even though I hate having to submit anything and am too busy most times but see... even I submit tickets so even us stubborn ones can be swayed. Are you sure? Nothing to do with Paul? You just completely overlooked Lynne's initial reply to try an pull that off are you aware of that? You remember my keen eye on here if anything else rofl but again he was asking me to do so and I did, makes it easier on Paul otherwise he might not get around to fixing it until he's done with vBulletin tickets that day if at all however he did fix it on a Sunday so hats off regardless :D.

Aye they do and yes I completely agree that there's a huge difference between paid staff and paying customers, that's like apples and oranges but putting emphasis on it w/ a ;) doesn't do... gosh I love you man but what the heck was that lol? :o

Edit: Ahh I believe you meant that, we don't receive pay to submit tickets to jira... if that's how you meant it then I get it but anywhere we go, support tickets are the norm right? What we must get used to and they certainly are not paid to submit the tickets themselves I do know that but I see where you were coming from with that.
