[DBTech] AJAX Threads v1 (vB4)

1 Attachment(s)
AJAX Threads: What is it?
AJAX Threads brings your threads alive, making them automatically refresh without needing to reload the page.

Uses

AJAX Threads is the ideal product for forums with busy threads or which deal with any sort of "event" be that TV shows, sports or game releases!
AJAX Threads allows you to make topics "auto update" without the user having to refresh. This can give performance benefits when applied to threads which receive a lot of refresh requests, and can increase user participation.
Topics can be turned live by admins individually, or you can set whole forums to have their threads be live automatically. You can even allow only VIP usergroups to have threads refresh automatically to increase subscription numbers.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please remember to click the, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2015/08/2.png button to the right if you installed the mod ---->

What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available.

*
For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention.

* Marking a modification as installed also helps us know how many people are using our work, giving us extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications.

We appreciate the support!

Priority support & Product Demos available at: http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Translations available @ our forum
Support for translations handled by the translator in its respective threads only.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Major Features:

Automatically Refresh Threads: Users will now see new posts in "real time" without having to refresh the page

Performance Benefits: If your forum receives lots of refresh requests on threads being posted in often this can put a lot of strain on your server - AJAX Threads will greatly reduce server resources used in those situations by refreshing only the minimum information required.

Total Control: You can set threads individually or per forum. You can set particular usergroups to receive the benefit, and you can even have it apply automatically to popular threads!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Complete Feature List (Lite)
* vBOption: Enable Automatic Updates
* vBOption: Refresh Interval
* vBOption: Idle Timeout
* vBOption: Automatic Un-Idle
* vBOption: Enable Information Bar (Tells users how often the thread refreshes, whether they're idle, and how to un-idle, etc)
* vBOption: Maximum Shown Posts
* Ability for users to manually refresh threads if Automatic Updates are disabled (cannot refresh more often than Refresh Interval regardless)
* Ability for users to manually un-idle themselves if automatic updates are enabled and the Idle Timeout is reached
* Per-usergroup setting to determine if automatic updates are enabled
* Per-usergroup setting to determine if manual updates are enabled
* Per-category setting to determine if automatic updates are enabled
* Per-category setting to determine if manual updates are enabled
* "Live" image on forumdisplay for threads that have automatic or manual updates enabled
* Posts fetched by AJAX Threads are marked as read
* Per-usergroup "duration" before a thread goes "idle".

Complete Feature List (Pro)
* vBOption: Minimum Replies
* Per-forum setting to determine if automatic updates are enabled
* Per-forum setting to determine if manual updates are enabled
* Per-thread setting to determine if automatic updates are enabled
* Per-thread ability for administrators with the "Manager" permission to override forum / usergroup settings and either enable or disable automatic updates

How do I remove the upper update bar?

and, is it possible to io include this for the quick reply box? so that if the user himself writes a post it too just get "faded into" the board?

same here on 4.1.6.

goran424 10-01-2011 09:06 AM

Does not work on 4.1.2 neither. Uninstalled and received fatal error, almost ruined my entire site. Thank God for backup.

I just downloaded the version from here and it works just fine on my site.

What type of server are you on, what are the specs?

Did you try and disable other mods to see if it conflicting with another mod?

We could try looking into it, but I'm unsure.

@all the people posting "does not work": I cannot help when I do not get more information than that. I need an error message or a detailed description, not three words :)

pete_brady 10-01-2011 02:55 PM

seems to work for some people, but not others... but is creating double posts occasionally.

no errors to report :(

DragonByte Tech 10-01-2011 03:15 PM

Double posts on quick reply is something I believe I've taken care of in my internal build (hotfixed for Pro), I'll update Lite with it if I can confirm it's not happening again :)

v1.0.2
Fix: The mod would refuse to function on vBulletin 4.x if you were not using the "Suite" (i.e. lacked vBulletin CMS installed).
Fix: Hopefully fixed Quick Reply post duplication issues

A special note on the Quick Reply issue: It exist(ed?) because I wanted to make replies you made via Quick Reply show up if you had multiple tabs of the same thread open. If v1.0.2 does not fix it, I have devised an alternative method that should fix it.

hugh_ 10-02-2011 09:00 AM

After installing this mod I posted (vbulletin 4.1.6 suite) and it appeared twice in the thread! Please look into this...

pete_brady 10-02-2011 10:38 AM

are the footer links removed in the pro version?

ozzy47 10-02-2011 01:14 PM

Just the 1 Link to Hivelocity Hosting, their is always the option to purchase the branding free addon with the mod

hmm this means the mod will not work, if i only got the vBulletin Suite 4.1.5?
will there be released another version of the mod that works with the suite too? :(
I've installed the mod yet and indead it doesn't work :(
But the idea is great and it would be great to have this on my site ;)

DragonByte Tech 10-02-2011 04:33 PM

How did you draw that conclusion from me saying that I fixed an issue that previously had the mod only working for Suite users? O.o

Hi Fillip, this looks like an excellent mod despite the fact I cannot get it to work.. Thank you very much for bringing it to us and offering your support.

I get this message at the bottom of my 4.1.5 forum but it simply does not refresh even when I click 'reload'.

Alex@bulletin 10-03-2011 04:35 PM

hey.

ok i will do that. but first a question:
because my site is not public yet i can only try this feature using the same ip but different browsers and different nicknames.
but actually it should work nevertheless or not?
the only thing that doesn't work on my site is the refresh itself.
i can see all other aspects concerning the mod, but the refresh seems not to be working, neither the automatic one, nor the manual one :/

Alex@bulletin 10-03-2011 04:43 PM

hmm deactivating all other mods didn't change anything.
but in the readme there is an aspect i haven't done yet:
Quote:

"If you haven't done so already, add yourself to the Super Administrators
variable in config.php"
i'm not sure...what do i have to do exactly? i have absolutely no php-knowledge and don't want to crash my files :(

DragonByte Tech 10-03-2011 04:45 PM

I've confirmed an issue with guests, but my account is submitted for moderation so I cannot check for any errors as a member.

Thanks for looking at it for me, Fillip. Your membership has been approved.

I'll go read the manual to make sure I'm not missing something obvious.

DragonByte Tech 10-03-2011 05:04 PM

Your problem is that http://twistsnturns.net/ajaxthreads.php returns 404. Please upload all files inside the upload folder to your main forum folder :)

I'm a moron :D

Thanks Fillip, I couldn't see that for looking at it.. I'd uploaded everything except that .php

Works a treat - Brilliant - You can count on my vote for Mod of the Month :up:

Alex@bulletin 10-03-2011 08:59 PM

Hey guys. i now checked up the Firefox Error Log:
and it says:

Quote:

Fehler: ajax_last_post is not defined
Quelldatei: http://weltderkarten.de/dbtech/ajaxt...reads.js?v=102
Zeile: 66
weltderkarten.de is my domain

hope you can use my information although there are in german :(

Edit: I've tested the mod in Opera and Internet Explorer too but it doesn't work there.....
Even a completely new installation has not changed something -.-

DragonByte Tech 10-03-2011 09:01 PM

That's related to the aforementioned guest issue, will be fixed in 1.0.3 :)
