Specific language for specific forum plugin

Hello,

i need a simple a plugin which allows me to use a specific language in a specific forum, details for my issue can be found here https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...one-forum-only

thank you :)

The link you posted talks about needed to set one forum to "RTL" format, but this question asks if you can specify a specific language to a specific forum- these are two different requests- can you confirm which one you really need.

DNCL 09-07-2011 02:26 PM

In the replies there, VB.com staff managed to give me the header i should apply to the template to get one forum only RTL while all other forums LTR but not all the template elements moved from left to right or the opposite, creating a new language and setting this language to use RTL as default is what i've done so far, but i need a simple plugin as he said in vb.com to assign this new RTL language to a specific forum.

I will work on this.

Thank you :)

Bad news... :(

So as it turns out changing the language for a forum is in fact very hard, in fact I don't think it's possible without manual file edits at all. What I had done before (and is easy) is changing the text direction- which was the original request on vBulletin.com.

So I will not be able to do this mod.

DNCL 09-07-2011 07:48 PM

Can you take a look at vbseo forum in my example please, do you think they did a hard job getting it like this done?

BirdOPrey5 09-07-2011 08:34 PM

The VBSEO example only changes the text direction, which is easy and I will post here in a few minutes anyway.

It does NOT change the language...

Note the language on both pages is English- for example the word "Replies" is in English on both pages... if it was truly in Arabic ALL vBulletin words/phrases would be in Arabic- but they are in English.

The only thing in Arabic is the posts- and that's because whoever typed them in did so with an Arabic text... same can be done here: هذا هو نص عربي.

So let me get the Text Direction mod together for you, that will do the same as VBSEO does.

This (attached) is an install-able product.

In Admin CP -> Product Manager, Import this file as any other product.

Once installed go to vBulletin Options -> Forum RTL Override by BOP5

Enter the forumids of any forums you want to view in RTL and hit save-

all done.

DNCL 09-07-2011 08:56 PM

Yes, i don't want to change language, just change the direction but i thought creating 2 english languages with different directions will solve my problem but i needed the plugin to assign that language.
I've installed the product and it didn't change the directions sadly :)

Are you using vBulletin 3.8?

DNCL 09-07-2011 10:34 PM

No, VB 4.1.5

OK Here is the VB4 version, please try this one. Uninstall the old one first if you still have it installed.

It worked great but it didn't move everything, i still have to apply the template edit Wayne gave me at vb.com, but with both applied, i got what i wanted, big thank you for your awesome work. :)

but i'm having issues with some buttons also with ranks and avatars and default post text direction, they are not aligned well, can you tell me what template i should replace it's headers other than FORUMDISPLAY and SHOWTHREAD ?

EDIT: SHOWTHREAD template doesn't seems to be accepting the template modification, with it or without it the same result on showthread.

EDIT2: if you look at vbseo footer on the arabic section you will notice that they are switching languages not just directions and other languages are not selectable, they are forcing each language in each section.

EDIT3: your mod made a conflict with CSS Sprites mod, caused bad positioning for images too.

BirdOPrey5 09-08-2011 05:01 PM

I can't help with styling issues, I know going to RTL causes styling issues in VB4, but it is out of my expertise.

2) It's not really Arabic... Again, if it was Arabic all text would be in Arabic. I could get the box to show "Arabic" too, in the plugin it's just 1 line of code, but it doesn't actually make the language arabic- it ONLY changes the box to say arabic so I left it ot.

3) I did not test it against any other mods, sorry.

DNCL 09-08-2011 05:25 PM

Yes, it's not arabic, it's just like the language file i've created, english with RTL but they named it arabic for reference, is there any hope of getting a plugin to assign a specific language with a specific forum?

I see no chance of that happening... doesn't mean it's impossible- maybe I'm missing something. Just means I can't do it.

Too bad for me, but really thank you for your contribution, you were kind enough to look at my request, appreciate it. :)
