0.9: Initial Release
0.91: Fixed bug where hman verify would not show

This is a mod to enable guests to use the Quick-Reply function in VB 3.8.x.

Guests would usually need to press the "Post Reply" button to make a reply. Now they can reply like everyone else using Quick-Reply.

The option will ONLY show on threads where they have permission to post a reply.

If you have human verification manager enabled they will also see the human verification question which they must answer correctly to have their post posted.

when i try to replay the thread using quick replay, i got this message:
The string you entered for the image verification did not match what was displayed.

reCaptcha (Image Verification) not show in quick replay?
How to show reCaptcha (Image Verification) in quick replay?

It's possible the auto template edits are failing. Please give me a link to a forum a guest can post in, I'll see what's going on.

You may have to do the manual template edits.

The automatic template edits should work on your site. Do you have any other mods installed?

You don't need a mod for that. In your Admin CP -> Forum Permissions set Follow Forum Moderation Rules to "No" for unregistered users in any forums you want to put all guest comments into the moderation queue.

If you want to do it for all guest comments then change the same setting in Usergroup Manager.

It's on my long list of projects. No timeline available. VB4 does permissions differently so not a simple port.

didn't work for me...I enabled auto first and then I manually edited the SHOWTHREAD template but still nothing appears..

If nothing happens even with the manual edits there's nothing much I can do. But I notice you don't seem to have guest posting enabled at all- this mod won't let guests quick-reply unless you already give them permission to post to begin with.

Got it working on vBulletin 4.1.2 Patch Level 3

imported mod
turned off auto edit
Used the code below in place of what's in the readme

One thing, if someone changes the default name when posting it does not change it in their post in admin cp, it stays as the default name.
Did it work in the original, can it be fixed?

That's really weird, in my experimenting I found the permissions were different in vb 4.x then 3.x and that was the main reason (I thought) the 3.x code wouldn't work on 4.x.

I will investigate this on 4.x and see what I can see, thanks for the info. :up:

How's it going?

Don't know if this is the way quick reply normally works but if I use it on a thread that has more than one page, not the last page, after submitting the post I get kicked back to forum display. If I use quick reply on the last page it works fine, after submitting the post it stays on the same thread page.

haven't started yet... that is not the way quick reply should work, probably a bug since it doesn't think quick reply should be enabled.

What happens if you add a quick-reply on a page other than the last page?

Before making that change to showthread.php if you used quickreply on a page other than the last page, once the post had been submitted you would be kicked to the threads forumdisplay page.
With the change in place the you stay on the same thread page after the post has been submitted.

If you can live with that you should be ok... but the correct behavior on quick reply (if logged in) is that it would take you to the last page after submitting the post.

This is a neat mod.

Instead of allowing guests to make the post, is there anyway to force them to register after hitting reply in order for their post to get posted?

I believe this will greatly increase conversion.

and can Guests upload avatar ?

if Guests can enable to register just to take nickname its be good with email and no need to activation email
