Demo
You can see a demo here (You can can register a new account, or use the Login, "Ideal Chat Demo", and password, "chatdemo") This demo is of the pro version which can be found here!

Support
This modification is released for free, and as such we don't officially support it; however, as time permits we will try to offer support on it. We will NOT be monitoring this thread on a daily basis, your best bet for a fast reply would be to go post here.

Common Issues/Topics
Chat Bar Don't Show Up?
Have you configured the usergroup settings? This is the most common issue we see, and 99% of the time it is due to usergroup settings not being configured properly. So if your bar is not showing up, please verify your usergroup settings before reporting it as an issue.

Messages Don't Show Up?
We are aware of an issue causing messages to not show up for some people, and are looking into fixes.

Modification Has Conflict With Another Product
There is always a chance that two products will conflict with each other! We are aware of some, but please feel free to tell us about any products you find to conflict via our Bug Tracker on our site.

Chat Doesn't Support Certain Characters
The chat can only support the characters your board itself can support! If you would like to support certain characters, you must have your board using a charset that supports them. We have only ever once noticed a chat that didn't support every character the board did, and we are looking in it.

Chat Kills My Server
We have tested the chat extensively for server friendliness, and have found it to be very gentle on servers. We have seen the script run with hundreds of active users without putting hardly any load on the server. However, an improperly configured server may result in any reverse-AJAX/push-AJAX/Comet based chat script killing the server. If you find that your server slows down after installation, you may want to talk with your host about raising your MySQL and Apache Max Connection Limits to a more appropriate amount!

Does this mod slow the website at all? is there a paid version?

Jimandbob 07-27-2011 12:03 PM

Looks good Tim ;)

We have been running it on one of our live sites during almost the entire development phase, and we couldn't notice our site slowing any. We also monitored our server load regularly, and found it to not really even touch the server.

For a short time during the development, there was a bug that kept the connections from closing correctly, and at one point we had over a 100 copies running, and we didn't even notice for a while because our server load was so low, and our site was still loading normally. (Don't worry though, we fixed that bug!)

As for a paid version, you can find the pro version on our website in our store.

What about Brian? :)

clubvr4 07-27-2011 12:19 PM

Is this mod hosted? or does it run on our own servers?

lapiervb 07-27-2011 12:21 PM

I would be interested in the pro version possibly. Can you explain the limitations of this version or the benefits of the pro version please.

You run it on your own server.

The pro version has more features including support to parse bbcode, urls, smilies, and over 165 slash commands such as /me, /wave... It also has support to allow users to chat with admins.

We are also planning to build a chat room system into both versions in the next few days, and once that is done, the pro version won't have any limits on the number of rooms, or who can create rooms, etc., while the lite version will only have 1 general chat room most likely.

We're also open for any ideas people would like to see implemented!

You know what, your absolutely correct! We accidentally included the xml for the the pro versions usergroup settings.

I have fixed it now, if you don't see anything from the new file that's up, please let me know and I'll look into it more.

Looks like a fantastic mod!

I have installed everything correctly im sure.. however there is no chat system on the site...

where abouts is the 4) Configure Settings (Don't forget the usergroup settings!)

I think this why i cannot see any chat system on the site, I havent configured the usergroup... how do i do this?

Thanks

Dan

lapiervb 07-27-2011 12:51 PM

Do you have a demo link where I can see this working? My apologies for the questions this should be the last one.

There was an xml file and phrase apparently missing in this one, I have added the new xml file, and I'm about to add the missing phrase, please give me a few minutes and then install it again.

Just install the new one overwriting that one... there was also a typo in the uninstall code, which I fixed in the newest files I uploaded. (I'm going to be going off on a certain coder later...) After you upgrade, you should be able to uninstall it at that point, if you would like.

tdkmatt 07-27-2011 01:22 PM

i just over wrote it but still nothing and re uploaded the files and zip

If you can't get it to work, I don't mind taking a look to see if I can find the issue, just let me know.

tdkmatt 07-27-2011 01:39 PM

Can you confirm where the premissions should be?

The permissions should be in the usergroup manager. And then there are a few general settings in the settings manager.

tdkmatt 07-27-2011 01:50 PM

Yea, nothing :( Help!

I can't find a demo to look at. Don't want to register for a gamer site.

Definitely in the market for a good chat solution.

I need public and private chat rooms and chat logs that can be archived and monitored.

Can't quite tell from the marketing info if that's available or coming. Looking forward to learning more!

I released demo account information for our gaming site so you can see it in action. The chatroom functionality will be added over the next 3-4 days along with tons of other features.

The friends box is supposed to be anchored to the bottom of the page.

danswano 07-27-2011 05:16 PM

Yeah sure, but if i scroll up it must go up like in demo or in other words it must be always shown at the bottom of the browser, in my case it's stuck at the bottom and when i scroll up it's not there and i have to scroll to the bottom of the forum to be able to see it.

I've disabled all hacks one by one then re enabled them and it worked fine. :)

Suggestions please:
1. can you integrate the settings into the friends list it self like facebook?
2. can you make the bar height less than this one like facebook?
3. Can you make an option to have a full bar at the bottom or just a little box.

Thanks :)

Glad you got it fixed. As for those suggestions we will consider them for future versions.

Just a friendly reminder to everybody, if you are caught removing the powered by without paying for branding removal you will be contacted and actions will be taken. We have already caught 3 sites that have removed it without permission. Remember this script took a lot of work so give credit where credit is due, especially if you want us to keep updating the free version.

BTW if you want to remove it we have a branding free option so you can do it legally just contact us.

Might want to get used to that as there are other sites that will take the modification from here and re-release on those other sites as well. Apparently nobody cares about hard work anymore.

Thats why we are dealing with every site that we find doing that, and every site we find redistrobuting the files. As we legally own the rights and can prove they are breaking the terms of use for the modification/license agreement. So everybody who plans to try and pull one over just know you will be hearing from us as soon as we notice. We worked entirely to hard to just let those things slide.
