banner alters due to resolution
 

I am using vbulletin 4.1.3 and am trying to get a banner to go right across the screen.

I have created it. put it on, but when other members go on there, the banner is beyond the right hand part of the forums.

Is there any way around this?

image is too big. you need a main image, and a repeating image. or a left and right image, and a repeating image for the middle.

Or change the image size to something reasonable in width and change the doc_minWidth and doc_maxWidth in stylevars to equal the size of the image.

yeah, you will either need a fixed style or continue using fluid but will need to alter the image and css to compensate.

I am a newbie in styles etc, so I have a few questions about this I have to ask.

how would I do these

I would not recommend using tables. All of this can be done with CSS.

How can I do this by using the CSS (as I said ealier I am a newbie on styles)

Google CSS3 multiple background images. The link provided is how to get it working on older IE versions.

The only thing I see being a problem is you will have to identify a piece of the picture that will be sufficient enough to be used as a repeating image.

I agree with you there. I am now thinking about a 'grassy' background which should make things a lot easier.

I think I have found another post which seems to have a bit more information as to how to do it.

I have now sorted it as best as possible. There is a gap roughly in the middle as this can't be helped but it fits with screen resolution 1024x768 and upwards.
