What modifications are used in Grindtimenow.com

I want to know what modifications were used in http://www.grindtimenow.com

How do I create the "featured media" in their homepage?

How do I create the MP3 player they have?

And how do I add the Share to Facebook or Twitter feature that they have?

Please let me know. Thanks

Why not search through the mods on here to create a unique community for yourself? There is every possibility they have created there own mods or paid somebody to create mods for them that will not be listed here on VB.org.

My advise to you would be to find mods here on VB.org that you think would suit your forums needs and try adding them, I would only add one mod per day so as to make sure there are no conflicts or problems. Add too many mods at once and you could possibly screw your forum.

Always make a backup of your forum before adding a new mod so you can quickly and painlessly revert should any problems arise.

I never really understood these types of threads...

"What mod are they using here?" or "How did they do this?"

Have you tried asking THEM?

Maybe the OP thinks there is an easy way to tell, like viewing a style sheet type page that would show all mods. :confused:

Looks like this slideshow in the featured media:
http://www.scriptiny.com/2008/12/javascript-slideshow/

The mp3 player is more than likely a free script you can view the source for more info or a hint to the script name in the css or js etc. What you want to do is search here and then do some searching of your own then customize your cms to your liking ;).

And guys, that's why the OP posted... for us to help.. silly rabbits!

hyperviperx99 05-17-2011 10:02 PM

Thanks TheLastSuperman. By the way, do you know a mod similar to the share to Facebook system that they have?

Thanks Octavius. I looked at it and I saw this:

Did you see which template it was under? The template name is the place you put it.

Boofo 05-18-2011 12:53 AM

Hey guys, lighten up. Either answer his question or keep the rude comments to yourselves.

I suspect its at the bottom of their header as they have a customized navbar at the top and have split the log in and search into the same table.

You will need to create it in a table to successfully float it to the right with the code.

I tried it on my test board with some success!

Here's your code; I have placed mine at the bottom of navbar template

Remember I adjusted the td width to fit my forum width!

HTML Code:

<table width="1050px" align="center">
<td width="335px" valign="top" align="right">
<div class="spacer_5px"></div>
<a title="Subscribe to our feed" target="_blank" href="feeds">
<img border="0" alt="Subscribe to our feed" src="rss.gif">
</a>
<a title="Follow us on Twitter" target="_blank" href="http://www.twitter.com">
<img border="0" alt="Follow us on Twitter" src="twitter.gif">
</a>
<a title="Add us on Facebook" target="_blank" href="http://www.facebook.com">
<img border="0" alt="Add us on Facebook" src="facebook.gif">
</a>
<a title="Subscribe to our channel on YouTube" target="_blank" href="http://www.youtube.com>
<img border="
0" alt="Subscribe to our channel on YouTube" src="youtube.gif">
</a>
<a title="Add us on Myspace" target="_blank" href="http://www.myspace.com">
<img border="0" alt="Add us on Myspace" src="myspace.gif">

</a>
</td>

They have created a Static HTML widget and inside this have placed various codes:

1) The slider is created by Michael Leigeber : http://www.scriptiny.com/2008/12/javascript-slideshow/

You probably need to use Cory Booths mod to pull your forum content utilizing his slider code.

2) The 5 images top right are just easily placed HTML

3) The mp3 player is from: http://www.mymusicstream.com/ which you will need to sign up and add your music and thus create a widget from them and use the code over at your forum.

I may take this up as a mini project, but it will be much later in the week as I am rather busy at the moment.

Hope this helps and good luck!

hyperviperx99 05-18-2011 05:12 PM

Thank you so much RobbieZ. I will try to work on this later. Peace

Really, that must explain the hundreds of unanswered posts in the General and Programming forums here on VB.org then.

I was not having a pop at the OP btw, around 18 months ago I was clueless with my shiny new vBulletin board, I found the best way was to jump in two feet first (On my test board of course), do some reading, then do some more reading and then read a good bit more, then just try things out and see what's what and how different plugins look and work, sure I had some help on here, but not much.

I've found my greatest friend for learning vBulletin has been Google.

I'm basically in the same position. Most of what I've learned has been from articles, google, breaking things (templates/php code/etc), searching for answers that have actually been posted on similar situtations, or just tearing other mods apart trying to figure out how they work. But, every now and then, I find something that I DO need help on, and ask here or on some of the other webmaster/modification/coding sites. It's bound to get answered somewhere.... :)

Where is Cory Booths mod?

Da-Vinci 05-19-2011 07:21 PM

OK, I don't know about this mod, but here's a tip for you.

At the top of the VB.org, you will see a link called Memberlist, click that. In the window that opens you will see a link that says Search Members and a drop down search box will open. Type into that cory.

A list will appear of member names that contain the word cory. At the bottom of that list you will see cory_booth
. Click his name and his member profile will open, near the bottom of the page his modifications will be listed and you will see this.

[WIDGET] Slider [v1.00]

hyperviperx99 05-19-2011 08:39 PM

thanks Da- Vinci. Does anyone know how to put a "Like" button on a CMS page?
