Private Message: Auto Reply

1 Attachment(s)
What is Private Message: Auto Reply?
This will give your users the option to have the forum send an auto-reply to PM's they receive.
This can be every PM, or PM's during a specified time frame.

The idea for this mod came from https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=116325 by Hellcat. While the idea came from there, this code is custom, and mine (just thought I should note that).

Features
  • Adds an auto reply option to the Private Message system for users.
  • The mod can be turned ON and OFF in when a user edits their options.
  • The mod can be turned ON and OFF globally by the admin.
  • The mod can be set to only allow certain usergroups to use the system.
  • Users have the option of specifying a timeframe for the auto reply.

Installation
1. Extract the contents of the zip file.
2. Enter your AdminCP and go to Plugins & Products > Manage Products > [Add/Import Product]
3. Import the product using the `product-pm_autoreply.xml` file.
4. Configure the mod in AdminCP -> Settings -> Options -> Private Message Options

Upgrading
In many cases, all you'll need to do to upgrade is follow the installation instructions above.

The only difference, will be you'll need to allow the files to overwrite. Also, when re-importing the
product file, you'll need to set "Allow Overwrite" to "Yes".

Changelog
Version 1.0.1, 02/05/2013
  • Removed "excluded" usergroups and changed to ti "allowed".
  • Added code to disable an auto-reply being sent if the sender has their own auto-reply set to On.

Version 1.0.0, 05/01/2011
  • Initial release.

Somehow I think that is for another of your mods ;).

Tagged, as this seems really useful, but the board I run has not yet upgraded to vB4.

Lol, yeah, I corrected it, apparently didn't correct it quick enough ;) :)

Hi,
nice mod, tagged.
i wish an Option, that Autoresponse is not send, if an Admin/Mod/S-Mod is sending a PN to a Admin/Mod/S-Mod.

3.8.x ?

Sforums 07-15-2011 11:36 AM

I would like an option of sending auto-reply when user is off-line/logged out.
5star, installed, nominated.

furnival 07-19-2011 12:08 PM

Eric, This looks exactly what I was looking for. Do you think it would work with 3.8.x, please?

I will see what I can do for 3.8, but I cannot promise I will release a version of this mod for it.

Will look into this for the next version.

home9000 10-31-2011 11:04 AM

we need for 3.8.x

ProFifaLeagues 10-31-2011 01:00 PM

Did you get the chance to look at adding it so the pm would be sent when the user is offline??
Be a great addition

ofir24 11-01-2011 02:02 AM

i have another great idea for a mod, auto answers for users, exmple:

name of thread:
tips to search in google

content:
bla bla......

after month user post thread:
"how do i search in google?"

auto answer : "before we post your thread do these thread may help you: .....",
it help you? if the user choose yes, his thread will not posted, if he choose no, his post will be posted.
in this mod we can define what question the thread will be match to, exmp:
name of thread:
tips to search in google

content:
bla bla......

match to questions or tags: how to search with google, search with google, google search tips....

installed and its workin on 4.1.7 thanks a lot

TombstoneWarrior 01-24-2012 10:40 PM

installed and nominated for MOTM. :)

Nice work! This looks like a promising mod!

I've got a simple question regarding looping. What happens if two users BOTH have auto-reply enabled and one sends a message to the other? Will the auto-reply keep bouncing back and forth until both mailboxes are full?

THere's something unusual with the setting, it's the "Excluded Usergroups". usually we use the opposite.

In my mind usergroups whose permitted to use this mod is fewer than the excluded one.

This is the one thing holding me off on installing this as well.

Is anyone running this on v4.2PL2?

thunderclap82 12-07-2012 08:11 PM

Any plans on adding a "whitelist" or minimum post to get through? Both would be nice options.

I just thought about that special case and wondered if it would start to jump in an infinite loop.
Thanks, I'll have a try ;)

BadgerDog 02-05-2013 03:33 PM

Installed for testing with thanks on vBulletin 4.1.3pl5...

First question...

I have no idea what I've done wrong, but I can't find the user screen anywhere, that a member in the "included" group can set the options shown in the pics.

I'm not referring to the AdminCp options under "Private Messages", as I have set those. I'm talking about where a logged in member would find the options to set for himself personally.

The screen shown does not appear under "General Settings" on my site after I've installed this mod.

Thanks for any feedback .. :)

Regards,
Doug

ForceHSS 02-05-2013 04:27 PM

your 1.0.1 version still shows 1.0.0 in the xml needs fixed

BadgerDog 02-11-2013 02:39 PM

Any support available for this mod?

Doug

I have another board that has Mass PM - Any chance this works with that?

s.f.w. 03-20-2013 10:37 AM

Had some issues getting the mod working. But I re-installed it and all seems well now.

I enabled the settings in the admin panel. However, when I then go into member settings, general settings, the option to turn on auto reply for PM does not appear.

I have the same problem with vB4.1.3 ... :D

I finally un-installed it since there's no support...

Doug,

I was able to get it working, but am running 4.2PL3. If you want to pm me, I can walk you through the steps I followed

s.f.w. 03-20-2013 11:12 PM

I realize I am cluttering this thread, but..
I "thought" I had this working. The option is enabled on both admin and user side. However, when a pm is sent to a user with auto reply enabled, no auto response is sent.
Can't see that I am doing anything wrong.

Might try going and installing V1 and see if that works.

s.f.w. 03-21-2013 12:01 AM

using V1 it is now working properly.
I also noticed, when I was using 1.01, vb still showed it as version 1.0 .
Despite my uninstalling before upgrading, and allowing overwrite.

jluerken 03-21-2013 04:17 PM

It's correct v. 1.0.1 does not work with vb4.2 PL3 but 1.0.0 does.
I hope the author of this hack is still around and fixes it.

thang28101993 03-28-2013 12:02 PM

Yeah, Please check again v1.0.1, It didn't work for Vb4.2 Pl3!
Thanks so much!

jluerken 04-12-2013 07:33 AM

Eric does not respond here so it looks like I have to un-install the product for the moment. :(

Keythacker 05-05-2013 03:27 PM

Does not seem to work with 4.2.1 or I can not see the options in user settings. and yes I have added the Admin group to be able to use this

ForceHSS 05-05-2013 06:01 PM

The updated version does not work as he messed up the coding and still has not fixed it the older one does

Keythacker 05-06-2013 01:05 AM

I have uninstalled the new one and installed the old one I am able to enable the product in Admin but there is nothing to add in the user settings for auto reply? guess since he is not replying here I will uninstall. To bad this would have been a great plugin. :(
