Does anyone use CuteFTP Pro?
I have tried a few of the others and found this one to be on par, if not better in some ways. Plus, I was able to legally register it for $3.00 USD, with the company's approval.
Has anyone else used it and if so, what did you think of it? |
I have used it before, but I really prefer FileZilla, it's free and it does its work.
|
From what I have been reading on the net, CuteFTP Pro is one of the only ones, if not the only one, that allows transferring files simultaneously, instead of just sequentially. And for $3 bucks, I can't go wrong.
|
I have continually used WS_FTP 32 (the old version) and haven't ever had problems with it. It was simple and a few links can still be found to download it.

CuteFTP Pro is what i use, and have used for years. I just wish they'd fix some of the bugs i've reported.
|
I use CuteFTP Pro as well and have for the past 6+ years
Wonderful program, intuitive with a userfriendly gui. HIghly recommend it. How did you register for $3 Bob??? I may have a few clients interested in that! Jacquii. |

CuteFTP is the best IMHO but it doesn't support FTPing to the Amazon S3 cloud which is a major disappointment. I have to use Cyberduck for that.

i've always used cute FTP but sometimes it's not so good on setting file permissions and it's not compatible with some utf8 characters anyway still it's better than others

I'd love to get another license for 3 dollars myself :D
there is a bug in windows 7 and windows vista where it doesn't get rid of temp files when you exit the client. Also sometime between cuteftp pro 3 and cute ftp pro 7/8 they got rid of the AMAZING overwrite/resume/etc dialog. It is a shadow of its former self. They also removed the ability to view passwords you have set for your ftp client. They claim there is no way to view them. Even though in the past you could just export the sites. How can they possibly STORE the password in a way we cannot view it if it has to be sentout in plaintext? Just silly decisions. Like I can understand wanting the feature, but at least give each user an option to disable it, or a password to view the stored passwords. |

Yea, but make it user choice. Its not like they host the client for me or something. Its on my personal computer. If I want to export the sites and their passwords for my own safe keeping let me.
We're not talking about me storing my passwords in someone elses database. This is my own computer. |
I agree. I was just saying that that would be their reason, I would think.
|
I get the reasoning, but the inability to disable it if a user so choses is not cool.
|
No it isn't, if they had it there at one time on the past. Did you report the change to them and ask them why they removed it?
|
I was told it was done for security, and that it was impossible to undo :/
|
I think everyone is getting nervous now with some of the bigger sites being hacked and all of the privacy issues of sites like Facebook, etc. It was bound to happen, I guess.
