NAME: RSS items as posts v0.6.2
DESCRIPTION: RSS items are added as the posts of the choosen topic.
AUTHOR and IDEA: zCarot (www.zcarot.com)
INSTALLATION TIME: 2-5 minutes
DIFFICULTY: average

--------------------------------- DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------

By default vBulletin 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 can import RSS elements as threads and announcements.
This mod allows you to import them as messages as well!
It can be convenient for RSS with the important information which doesn't required to be discussed.

----------------------------------- REMARKS -----------------------------------

If the thread ID does not set, than the name of RSS feed will be the used as title of the topic.
If the topic still does not exist in the specified forum, it will be created with first item of RSS.
Practically all adjustments for display of RSS items as topics will influence on their display as posts.

Thanks for the update. I use the old version, can you give more info on "FIXED: DB error with merging posts" because I don't think I ever ran into it- was this just for posts made by the mod or all posts on the board?

Just wondering if its necessary to upgrade sooner than later...

zCarot 03-27-2011 01:18 PM

<font color="DarkSlateBlue">This DB error can occur if you have enabled option "Merge many RSS items to one post".
So if you have not emails with this error - you don't need to upgrade.</font>

BirdOPrey5 03-27-2011 01:55 PM

Thanks.

Will probably save this upgrade then until I upgrade vBulletin since I'll have to redo the file edits anyway.

AURFSCAN 03-27-2011 05:46 PM

Does what it says... thx zcarot

Juggernaut 06-09-2011 04:30 AM

Installed :D

astdirect 06-09-2011 07:58 AM

Is it possible to use an xml feed with this ? Or any way to modify so it accepts xml feeds into posts ?

Juggernaut 06-11-2011 05:49 AM

Stopped working after the upgrade to vbulletin 4.1.4, even after I re-did all of the file edits, and reinstalled.

Alan_SP 06-11-2011 07:33 AM

This is bad news. I really like it and I hope fix will be provided soon.

anupam_luv 06-11-2011 10:49 PM

Thank You

Usually when a mod requires file edits it's not that the coder didn't do a good job, it's that the software wasn't written with any "hooks" in the necessary places- it's physically impossible to not make file edits sometimes.

Juggernaut 06-11-2011 11:29 PM

Yes, it's not working even with the file edits, hopefully it will be updated, as the file edits are not dificult at all, but as it is, it isn't working anymore.

Alan_SP 06-12-2011 09:50 AM

I hope it gets updated, I really like it very much.

anupam_luv 06-12-2011 09:51 AM

ya right, file edits isnt too difficult but its not working even with it.......
now I'm gettin a new thread posted for every new blog post... i've 2 merge thm manually to the target thread...

Artes_Marciales 10-11-2011 05:57 PM

I need this for 3.8 : S

dink337 11-17-2011 10:53 PM

Any updates on whether this is going to be adjusted to work post 4.1.3?

Great mod, but too bad I can't use it any longer :(

tonmo 11-21-2011 12:50 PM

tonmo 11-22-2011 12:30 AM

We might have better luck voting for this in Jira on vbulletin.com - please do!

http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBIV-13567

appsfinder 12-02-2011 03:20 PM

anyway to fix this to work with 4.1.4 eg give us the new code changes

fishwestend 12-02-2011 05:17 PM

I wish it would work for 4.1.8

I'm having issues of duplicate RSS Feed being created as new Threads. I don't want duplicates and the RSS Feed Manager will not ignore feeds it has already pulled.

ijob 12-19-2011 06:13 PM

Would like this updated please!!!!!!!!

Much appreciated ;)
