Help with "Home" Tab
Hey guys, I'm brand new to VB, and so far doing pretty well, I think. For the most part, the site is where I want it, but the only issue I have is when I click the "home" tab, it errors and cannot go to the main homepage. When I type in the direct URL, it works just fine.
My website is www.theopeningbands.com Could anyone help me out? --------------- Added [DATE]1299168525[/DATE] at [TIME]1299168525[/TIME] --------------- Bump...anybody? All I need to figure out is where I go to change where the "home" tab links to. Does anybody know that? Thanks |
You have no page called home.php which is why you are getting an error. The name of the CMS pages is content.php.
Also, please read the forum rules about not bumping your thread prior to at least 24 hours. |
My apologies, I didn't realize that was a rule.
So should I change the name of content.php to home.php? --------------- Added [DATE]1299185556[/DATE] at [TIME]1299185556[/TIME] --------------- Well, tried that to no avail. Do I just move the content.php file somewhere? Or is there a way through admincp to just dictate what URL clicking a certain tab goes to? |
When I click your home tab, it is still going to this page - http://theopeningbands.com/forums/home.php
That is invalid. The content.php page should be in your forums directory, and it is since I can go to that page just fine. |
Haha I guess I'm just an idiot, then. I just don't understand what you're saying. My content.php is in my forums directory.
Like you said it goes to /forums/home.php How do I make it go to content.php rather than home.php? |
It looks like you changed the script name in AdminCP > Settings > Options > content management > site tab url
|
Finally got it! Thanks Lynne for the help.
I'm not sure if I should start a new thread, but I'll ask here: -I have the forum sidebar enabled, is there a way to get that on my home page as well? -Also, how do I set it so when a new article is posted, it is automatically promoted to 1? |
The home page has widgets. You create widgets and add them to your layout. This is covered in the documentation about the CMS (you should have it if you installed the default CMS, or if not, it is over on vbulletin.com).
I don't know what you mean to have an article promoted to 1. |
Great thank you, I've got it to where I want it for now.
So I had my home tab working great, and then I wanted to change where my titleimage linked to. It was linking to the forums and I wanted it to go to the homepage. So I changed it and it linked to the home. And now my home tab won't work, so I changed the code back to what it was in the header template, and i still won't work! I made sure it is still sent to content.php. Any idea what I would need to check? |
I already answered your other thread about that.

Thanks Lynne, I appreciate your help. It actually happened twice, so that's why the second thread got posted.
I've got a couple more questions if you don't hate me by now. -Is it possible to position the reputation bar below the user's avatar? I mean, I know you can do it since most of the boards I'm on are like that, but how in the world do you do that? -I'm also following your post on how to make a new tab, but am thoroughly confused by it. How do I rename the tab? Also, where do I type in where it should redirect to? I think that's it for now, I really appreciate everything. |
- you can move that code. It is in the postbit or postbit_legacy template. Just cut/paste it to where you want it.
- if you have questions about the create a tab article, you should ask them in that thread. |
Asked in that thread, thanks.
