When did you discover vBulletin?

Just a little fun poll. I discovered vBulletin in early 2001. Set up my forums in April of that year. Then sold them late 2009.

vBulletin dates back before 2000 ... You would need to update the poll for pre-2000

I started using vBulletin in 2001 when there seemed to be a mass transition of forums going from the UBB to vBulletin.

I never much noticed forum software until I became very active on a vBulletin site in 2002.

What do you mean by "discover" ?

I was a member of forums that used vb long before I became involved in wroking with it.

April 22ND, 2000 to be exact. I was the second to convert a 1mil+ post forum to vbulletin from UBB. John was the first. Interestingly enough John and I ran a forum in same niche and our sites were 1 and 2 in the niche.

I was a member of a few forums but had no idea what the software was until I became a mod on one and then entered the modcp and saw the word vBulletin. :)

Same here! Public Relations for a gaming (online tournaments) forum late in 2006, I then was given basic admincp access then about 2 years later in 2008 I started to really become interested in how it all worked... I drunk a Red Bull it gave me wings and the rest is history or clouded in my silly attempts at humor :p.

2009 when I volunteered to help out at a forum where I was a member. Before that I never thought about it. I've been a programmer for many years but couldn't spell php or CSS until I started working with vBulletin.

About the same here! CAD and writing Macros in a completely different syntax without any experience in php/css or anything really minus some tinkering on MySpace :p.

Based on some of your posts, I can tell you've come a long way too so from me to you - BRAVO! In a "I did it the same way" sense - I'm proud of you .

Not that you needed me to say all that but credit when I see someone who worked hard and it payed off!

Thanks. But I guess I made it sound like it was my first programming language. I've programmed in other languages like C/C++, Java, Perl, and even some Ada. I had just never looked at PHP before, and the HTML and CGI experience I had was so long ago that CSS wasn't being used yet.

I don't even remember...

But it was definitely a big leap from phpBB :D

DarkGizmo 03-07-2011 11:05 PM

I believe it was in 2002. It was back when it was still version 2.x.

Whiteknite 03-07-2011 11:55 PM

I've seen a lot of sites with message forums powered by Vbulletin, but it wasn't until around May of last year that I decided to make a web site with it's message forum.
After that, I discovered or was told about vbulletin.org. I am learning a lot from the postings on here. Although, there are some things I still don't seem to be able to grasp. I am sure that in time I will though.

Thank you all for all the help you've given me since I've been on here.
