OnVerify Phone Verification
 

This plug-in verifies each paid subscription before the actual payment with automated phone calls. The verification is done just before the redirection to the payment processor.

In order to install and setup the plug-in, follow these steps:

1. Download the plug in files, extract them to a folder
2. Move upload directory contents to VB DocumentRoot
3. From VB Admin, import product-onverify_phone_verify.xml from Plugin & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product
4. Open an account at onverify.com (Setup is free, but in order to use verifications account needs to be in positive balance)
5. Get userid and apipass from My Profile tab at onverify.com
6. Edit or add template according to your needs (you can adjust the wording in the verification)
7. Go back to VB Admin, set options from VBulletin Options -> OnVerify Phone Verification Options

This plug-in works for the Paid Subscriptions.

In options you have option to verify each sale or verify once per user.

I would be interested in this as a verification for community members. Is the phone number saved in VB or is it something that Onverify hosts and keeps?

I would also like to see this as verification for community members that it autopromotes them to VERIFIED user or allows them access without the need for payment as an option AND additionally also hooked in for payments.

Sure we can add this property. Actually the plug in is modelled as to be working for any form on vbulletin. At which step you will need verification of community members? On registration, as an upgrade option?

Phone number is saved in user table, this plug in adds following columns to user table:
ov_verified, ov_pincode, ov_phone, ov_calls

phone number is stored at ov_phone column.

Nice to see this included with vbulletin.

I have several Paid Subscriptions. Of course I would not want to use this on some of my cheap $3.95 a month subscriptions as some calls might cost me nearly that eg. Australia up to $2.09 per call

However it would be useful for longer length subscriptions such as a yearly $99 one or another subscription that would be worth it.

So it is possible to select which subscriptions to use this with? if not please add.

2.09 is only valid for Austalian Ex-Norfolk and Ex Territories. Otherwise it's 0.06-0.46

You have the option to block the calls that cost higher than your threshold from onverify.com. Also you can block per prefix or per phone type.

But we also started to work on your suggestion, ability to mark a subscription to be verified (or no verification)

OnVerify.com provides a service, a easy to use interface, quick way to launch an automated phone call. And also the phone call is billed by the telcos we work.

i have this mod installed for 6/7 days now and it works perfect to prevent fraid payments for paid subscriptions.

Before i got atleast 1 claim each 2 days saying the payment wasent authorize and 9 of the 10 times i lost the money and some times need to pay a fee.

I have this mod installed for 6/7 days now and got 0 claims.

So i want to thank onverifiy for this great mod and that they share there mod for free.
I asked other sites with do the same as onverify before but they all asked $200-$300 to make this plugin.

So i can realy recommend this to forums that have paid subscriptions and accept paypal.

is there way to get money from users who registred by using this service so they pay money as sms and u and the site owner will share the money ?

Which countries you serve and will ask payment? I will investigate it and advise,

1) is it available for SMS text messaging ?
2) when is it available for vB 4.0x or higher ?

isnt there websites online where you can send phones free text messages? you can send the code that way and we wont get charged any long distance fees. Not even text costs as you can send a text to a persons email phone number ie 4164433243@rogers.com as an even 2nd option...

That's not 100% right. You may use email gateways of several providers, which forwards the email to the end user. But this is not reliable way as:

1. Some users switch it off
2. This method does not use number portability (so if number is ported, your email sms wont arrive)
3. It's not worldwide

You do not have this mod for vb 4.1.1?

I am looking just to verify member accounts right now, not just
paid subscriptions..maybe one day...not everyone has paid subscriptions, but
every forum has members, and they should be verified to keep scammers/spammers away....

it can be used just to verify users phone numbers ? as in our forums we dont sell subscriptions...

We are working on a new version of this plug-in, in which we will support
1. Verify user's phone numbers
2. Support SMS
3. Auto switch SMS and Phone (send sms for mobiles)

We are at the final tests, current version can be demoed from vb.onverify.com

Having problems getting it to work for vBulletin 4.1.2 CMS - does it work only for the forms only version of vBulletin or the CMS version as well?

- Has this been made available for vBulletin 4.1.5?
- can it provide *just* new user registration authentication via SMS?

I like your idea, and Im using SMS and phone verification for other projects.

But I see some limitation in your plugin. It only works for paid subscriptions.

I would like to use SMS verification on forum user sign up.

And or to manually check a user with SMS.

This means, this 2 basic options are missing.

Option 1.
Activate on user sign up. Every user that registers needs to input their SMS pin on sign up.

Option 2. Manually verification. As an admin you can send a SMS manually from the admin control panel, and the user can log into his account and verify his account. Manual verification.

Users verified should go to their own usergroup. Optional.

Also, are you a reseller? Like using Clickatell for SMS and Telesign for the voice verification or do you have your own VoIP service which makes the calls? I mean it would make sense to you to cut out the middle men to lower your phone calling fees using VoIP providers directly and sms gateways.

We have these properties in VB4 version. VB 3.X version will be updated accordingly
