How can I get this type of video to embed into my Front Page Articles.

I host a World of Warcraft website and have been attempting to embed weekly videos from the MMO Report. However when I go to embed the video it just leaves the code on the page, and if I put a link to the website where the video is (using the video link in the text box) it just posts a link.

I'd really like to get this video embed into the front page articles as we use it each week.

Here is the embed code:
Code:

<object classId="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="480" height="418" id="VideoPlayerLg50499">
<param name="movie" value="http://g4tv.com/lv3/50499" />
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" />
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" />
<embed src="http://g4tv.com/lv3/50499" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" name="VideoPlayer" width="480" height="382" allowScriptAccess="always" allowFullScreen="true" />
</object>
<div style="margin:0;text-align:center;width:480px;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:12px;color:#FF9B00;">
<a href="http://g4tv.com/games/trailers/" style="color:#FF9B00;" target="_blank">Game Trailers</a> -
<a href="http://g4tv.com/e32011" style="color:#FF9B00;" target="_blank">E3 2011</a></div>

Here is a link to the website & Video:

Goto admincp/vbulletin cms
goto widget then create new widget , at top it will have some options use Static HTML as widget type

drop that code in that and save it as whatever you want to name it were it says

ok now its created and you can add it to your front page in layouts

That could work, however is there a way to be able to post it into an Article for the front page? I use vBulletin Suite, and do constant updates for news on the front page.

Create a custom BB Code :cool:

More info here: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/bbcode_intro

Thank you, I got it to work.

My end goal here, and something I still need to get fixed, is to have it appear as the YouTube video's appear, where they can be watched without having to expand the post.

You can see what I mean at my website: www.distortedguild.com

I thought I had the homepage articles authorized for unregistered users. I logged out and was able to view the homepage and the articles.

Worked fine for me, not logged in.

Custom BB codes are great. Useful for embedding many custom widgets from other sides, and using the {param} function is awesome! Especially for custom sized youtube, soundcloud, bancamp etc widgets.

Right, it is working, but the users have to go to the articles page. My goal is to be able to view the video from the front page, without having to go to the article page.

I didnt have to make any extra clicks. All I did was hit the link, and click the YouTube video and it played just fine for me. Maybe I am mis-understanding what you mean...

Allow HTML in articles.

If you do that ^

Be sure only trusted members or staff have access to post articles, basically you never want to allow posting of HTML in articles unless you trust the person posting, this is something you definitely want to avoid in your forums as well i.e. "Allow HTML" = "No" in forum permissions.

There are ways to do certain things, when you share ForumsMods be sure if it's something like that, you clearly explain the consequences to their actions your telling them are "ok" to take based on your reply to their post ;).

You are right.
You can select which usergroups can post HTML.

jimfries 12-28-2010 09:08 PM

Myself and only two others have posting rights, and they rarely, if ever, post.

Thank you for the advice and suggestions. I learned something new from this post, so it was worth the effort.

Thanks!

Addendum:
I may be looking in the wrong place to get this changed...

vBulletin CMS > Permissions

In this location I have "Can Use HTML in CMS Content" Checked, however it does not let me post as I want. (As you suggested)

the MMO Report is the video I want played. The YouTube video's play perfectly, and that is how I want the MMO Report video to play like.
