Introducing myself

I thought I would drop by and say hello.

My name is Adrian Harris, I work for vBulletin, I think the title on my desk says "Senior Operations Manager", but it essentially means I am responsible for overseeing the business side of vBulletin which includes customer service, marketing etc. etc.

To be a little self indulgent, a bit about who I am.
I am Australian (Tasmanian to be precise :) ), but live in Los Angeles and work in vBulletin's head office, I got "into" vBulletin back in 2004 when I was made a moderator of a vBulletin community (ford-trucks.com) I was a member of... it progressed to being a super-moderator, then an administrator of the site.
Internet Brands (vBulletin's parent company) purchased the site, and I was offered a position to oversee the community side all of their automotive forums, of which there is about 90 - I left my "day job" at Ford Motor Company and moved to the US. Fast track another 2 years and I was presented with an opportunity to work on the vBulletin team - which I jumped at!
I sadly don't have experience with programming, apart from CNC Machine code and a bit of C programming for robots, I have a healthy appreciation for it. My designing experience is limited to Microsoft Paint - where I can expertly craft the dogs breakfast of your choice :p

Anyhow - I would like to drop by every now and then (if you will have me!), as I think you have a great community here, and I would love to participate and see how we (vBulletin) can help support it further.

I would love to hear a little about all of you!

Adrian

Hi! and welcome!

Don't know anyone from Tasmania. That's pretty cool.

At what point in your vbulletin moderating career did you start getting paid?

vbenhancer 12-09-2010 06:57 PM

oh no, you are not permitted to commit here... we're not worth watching over...

rofl

... nah, just a joke from the black lamb of the gang... :)

btw, i do think "cross site" thing is overrated... rofl

You must've been doing a pretty darn good job. How large were these Ford forums? About ten thousand members?

I hope not either although tbo I don't take him for the type that would tuck tail and run so I don't think we have anything to worry about ;).

He's a keeper imo... as my wife says about me on occasion :D.

It's only polite that when someone introduces himself, we as a community "Welcome" with open arms - otherwise we would appear as rude asshats :P -- It'll be interesting to see his spam though hahaa

Alfa1 12-13-2010 10:41 PM

Ouch Nexia!

IB Adrian 12-14-2010 02:16 PM

I don't think there is a place on earth that has better weather. It was 85 deg's here on the beach on the weekend, and low 70's yesterday.
I don't know how I am going to struggle through this winter thing... :p

Hello Adrian, do me a favor and toss a squishy stress ball across the room at Andy :D.

BTW: Welcome to the party.

01-10-2011 07:39 PM

I'm new here, just looking for some good forums to give my two cents in and also for some answers. I've been asking about the best hard drive out there because I'm going to be getting one but not one answer. Thankfully there's an internet and I can do research. I just wanted user experience. But yeah my names Kelly and it's nice to meet you all!

BlackThorn 01-10-2011 08:19 PM

Adrian Welcome to vBulletin.org : ) ...
however, I have a question, you are married? :D
Los Angeles is ok but you gotta go to New York, lol :p

P.S: Adrian, why ford-trucks.com is vBulletin 3.x?

Oh boy, :erm:.

(I made this mistake too... turns out "Adrian" is also a guy's name. Who knew?)
