help: ads do not display if conditionals are used
I would like to display an advertisement to people browsing a specific forum.
I set the conditional: "Display this ad if... User is browsing forum __" When I set this conditional, the ad does not display. If the conditional is not used, the ad works and is displayed everywhere (not desireable, as this ad is specific to a particular section of my forum). I realize this is a bug and after googling it, it seems to have been around since vb4.0.1. I have vb 4.1.0 Does anyone know a workaround? |
Anyone?
|
Can you please post your actual code that you used? We can't tell you what is wrong if you don't tell us exactly what you did. (It does work if you use the right condition - I've done it before.)
|
all it was was a simple<a href="ad link"><img src="image link"></a> type of code.
|
You said you set the condition and it didn't work. So what condition did you set? I just set one to only display in my Main Forum forum and it works just fine in my 4.1 default test forum. So, we really need more details in order to help out.
|
As I said before, the condition I used was: "Display this ad if... User is browsing forum ___ "
I set it to only show up in a specific forum section. Does the name of the forum section matter? |
As I said, this works just fine on my default 4.1.0 test site. So, I was just asking for any other specifics (the code? a screen shot? any other options selected?) to be able to help you figure out why it doesn't work for you.

Here you go:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2011/01/32.png If I unselect the conditional, the ad works forum-wide. When I select the conditional as check-marked in the image the ad does not appear in the selected forum section. I have tried researching this, and it appears I'm not the only one with an issue and that this is a bug. I just want to know if anyone has figured out a way around it. I have tried disabling all other site ads to ensure it wasn't conflicting with anything else. But this made no difference. |
If it is a bug and there is a fix, then it would be posted in the bug report.

Here, I googled and found this... there are 3 people in this thread that have the same problem as me: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...tising-problem
--------------- Added [DATE]1294262201[/DATE] at [TIME]1294262201[/TIME] --------------- and here.. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/proje...?issueid=34666 The ad placement I'm trying to get is in "first post content" not below the navbar. |
It still works just fine for me using my totally default style on my default 4.1.0 board. Are you trying this with a totally default style?
|
I just tried it with a totally default style and it still didn't work.
|
With no modifications also?
If you are still having the issue, then you should post in the bug report about it (but not that one since it is marked as a duplicate and therefore no longer looked at). http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBIV-3395 |
Yes, it is completely default. I have it there for testing in case I run into any issues.
|
Seems like the fix was posted in this project thread: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/proje...?issueid=34416. Had you tried that yet?
