Is vB3.x still alive?

Hello,

I've got many requests to port some of my mods to work with vB3.x. As this is not a one day job, due to the huge amount of differencies in coding between vB3 and vB4, before starting, I want to know if vB3 is still active. That's why I'll appreciate to vote on my poll. This way I can count how many active installations exist, and of course which mod will be more usable for you.

Thank you
Maria

Yes vbulletin 3 is very much still alive, it would be very nice to port some of your great modifications to vbulletin 3.

I would also guess it would be down to how much time you would have to... put into making it, but I have no plan to upgrade to vbulletin 4 until I know everything is sorted.

Regards
Mick

Big mods, like microCART and microCLASSIFIEDS need about 10 days working at least 6 hours per day. Others, like microNEWSLETTER need half of this time, while microSUPPORT as it already exists for vB3, needs 2-3 days to implement the new features and correct some bugs.

I guess then Maria that it is also a question for you, do you have the time?

I am sure you will have plenty of people using your mods, I would 100% install the newsletter because its a feature that would benefit my members and keep them in the mind of the forum which is always a great thing.

I tried a classifieds once and it was not used on my board, don't sell anything so the cart would not be of benefit to me.

Am going to look at the support modification now but might use that.

I guess its down to choice but if you do have the time it would be fantastic for users of vbulletin 3X to use your modifications.

Regards
Mick

Due to my health's problems I must stay home for a long time, so I can say that I've time to do this work. I'll follow this post for the weekend and from Monday I'll start working.

I marked 3 mods for vb3 as i will never move to vb4 even though my licenses are current and allow me to - far to may problems with it!

I marked these for vb3 purely on a selfish basis :)
microCart
microNewsletter
microSupport

EDIT:To answer the question is vb3 still alive, definitely for me as i have just bought another license from vbulletin but downloaded vb3.8.6 :)

Aye, vB3 is alive still indeed. And I'll work with it until it's actual time has come, which I doubt will be in a short time.

Alike BirdOPrey, I'm not familiar with your modifications, but it'd be nice to see some ports from vB4. :)

vBulletin 3.x is very well alive to me. I won't switch to vBulletin 4.x before a very, very, long, time.

3.x (mainly 3.8) is still very much alive.

Alfa1 11-28-2010 10:21 PM

vb3 is very much alive. Though I am currently not interested in any of the above mods.

vb4newb 11-28-2010 10:59 PM

I use only vB 3.86 no interest in vB 4.0X as of yet.

BirdOPrey5 11-29-2010 12:10 AM

Interesting username for someone with no interest in VB4. :)

vbenhancer 11-29-2010 01:11 AM

Joe, his username means " vbulletin for newbie"... btw, he can't be "for newbie" as he is himself a newb...
