So I'm Rebuiding... What you think thus far?
Okay - so I've finally started rebuilding my poetry site after the devastating issue with HostV left me shaking my head in frustration...
I've decided to go with another subdreamer install with vB integrated. I've been working the past couple days building the style I call "JPiC 3.0" http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/5...10125321am.png I'm going for a sophistocated look with a soft color pallette, keeping a very similar motif as my JPiC 2.0 style (creams/purple/dusty rose) and I've decided to play around a little with the green color in the logo quill. custom css - xhtml menu with a nice mouseover effect... Whatcha think thus far? |
Looking good! ;)
|
Thanks Bob!
|
It's looking great. I like the colour palette you have used, definitely gives off a soft and warm feel.
|
Jacquii has always had a good eye for color. Maybe one of these days I'll pick her brain and see what she and I can come up with for my site. ;)
|
I have to say I love the colors and how you have put the design together! They work perfect
|
The quality is very good but the color choice is a little feminine for my tastes...
|
Thanks everybody! LOL @ the feminine comment - It's called "Jacquii's" Poetry in Color forum and Jacquii is very much feminine, despite her penchant for off-the-cuff rants and the need to be in control :P
I am trying to not "overdo" it - so I've introduced some masculine elements that balance out the style well I think - will post additional screens as it nears completion ;) |
Update on the style (image is rather huge - almost 1MB):

I know this is a little old but wanted to have my two cents worth - I think it looks fantastic and I hope that your new host is alot better to you than HostV
|
Thanks Brendon! I'm in the process of completing the matching forum style and customizing all modifications. Hopefully will be able to re-open the forum in the next couple weeks.
As for hosting - I've decided to go with VPS Latch and couldn't be happier! They have a great support team and a wonderful leader in Adam. Jacquii. |

Their prices look good though. |

I never considered the weather actually - but their data center seems as secure as any other... They offer (like HostV supposedly did/does and like most all other hosting companies do) r1soft backups, etc... I suppose rsync is to be my best friend.... |
I put a warning about HostV on my links directory after reading your story...

I honestly and truly dislike the navigation at the top, I think it's unprofessional.

http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/7...01032029pm.png The redesign is still incomplete so it may change a bit - but it is FAR from "unprofessional". Do you even know what you're talking about? o.O Anyway - you can see it at http://jpicforum.info/forum/ -- keep in mind that there is still work to be done... The forum is offline, blablabla. Let me know what you think after visiting :) Jacquii. |
I love the great work Jacquii!
It really inspires me a lot. You got a thing for designing. :D |
Hey Freshboy https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/
Thanks for the love - I'm hoping to re-open the forum next week some time - Definitely in the month of December at anyrate. Glad you like what I've done with it thus far. Jacquii. |
Wow Jacquii, I'm impressed. Love the design, very elegant and colorful. This really fire me up to learn and work to reach at least half of your skill level. :D
Keep up the amazing work and always remember to inspire us (or me at least) with your designs. :) Also, you're probably tired of hearing this by now, but I'm terribly sorry to hear about your HostV issues. |

But that's happened to me once too. I know I still kept going on and eventually it was for the better. Just do what I do now. Create weekly backups and just download them. Or when I'm away the server send its to my email or downloaded it directly to my PC at home. Anyways can't wait to see to back in action! :D |
I've 'un'officially announced a re-launch date of December 6 ==> YAY!!!!!
There's quite a bit of work left to do - but I think it's a realistic date. And I'm still workin workin workin - Here's a quick peak at a recent post I made in the JPiC Literary Articles Database: http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7...01072350am.png I'm kinda excited! woohoo |
wow nice stuff!
I'm jealous now!!! :( |

I love that last screenshot!!
it's just sad to see this part :( vBulletin 3.8.6 Really wish you would design in 4 :) |

I'm glad she is using 3.8. otherwise she has to learn all the new changes in vB4. |
Thanks Brandon and LOL Fresh!!!!!!!! I agree - I'm just not crazy at all about the 4.x series. I remember when first coming to vBulletin (3.5.4) I was absolutely loving the software. Then 3.6, 3.7 & 3.8 which I still adore - For me personally - the 4.x series didn't quite ruin my love affair with vBulletin, but rather ruined my want to upgrade beyond 3.8.x
I think they f***ed up the stylevar system and I'm not in any particular hurry to 'relearn' it - I'm very happy with the 3.8.6 though - perhaps vBulletin will redeem itself on down the road - but for me personally = vB 4.1 is a most horrible joke played on the vB community. |
http://jpicforum.info --- the main site is online now! The forum re-opening will follow as soon as a few issues are sorted... 2,3,4,5 days? IDK - we'll see lol. Feel free to stop by and sign our guestbook.
