LAM - Quote Img & Video to URL
 

This product will change any [IMG] and [VIDEO=] tags to [URL] tags when a post is quoted.


Installation

1. Download the attached .xml file
   product-LAM_QuoteImg2URL.xml
2. Install the product
   AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Add/Import Product -> Import Product

Configuration

There is none!


Example

If someone has made a post like this;

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1286983589

The image tag is converted to a URL when quoted, like this;

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1286983589

Assuming the image has already been downloaded by the browser viewing the original post - no, caching should take care of that. What it does mean is if you have a thread with lots of pictures and a lot of people who are quoting just to reply things like "That's cool" then you don't end up with the same pictures appearing again, and again..... and again.

I find it makes a thread more coherent to view without the need to keep scrolling past quoted images to find something new.

About time for something like this :)

I've done a very minor update to optimise the code. I'm not convinced it will make that much of a difference in real life, but it's an optimisation none the less.

lol i made my own fix by editing class_bbcode.php, this is much better as a plugin tho

Excellent job, this is a great mod...

Suggestion for future development; Have an editable field to list tags to be included (CSV list).
Users may have custom tags like [YouTube], [PDF], etc, that would also be good to convert in a quote.

Can't get this to work on 4.1.10 for some reason.

Ok, it's working for linked images and videos but not for attached images. Any idea why?
