Thanks suiyuan ...it's always nice to hear :D

I found the problem with the smilies, and I will fix the download .zip

UPDATE: All fixed! Be sure to re-upload the images folder, and re-install the XML file. :D

Great Style, but XML File doesn't work!

You are using always direct URL adresses into the XML FIle ie. "url(http://www.the-armory.net/forum/imag...ient_thead.gif) repeat-x top "

The XML file should work good now. The information you referred to in the XML file is for reference only (developers left it after they upgraded from VB3 to VB4), and should not affect the install or operation of the style. I did find an entry that needed to be changed, so I had to correct it. Everyone needs to re-download and reinstall everything. :)

Thanks a lot gator777, you're really fast ;))

Now it works great! Very nice Style - it's my favorite!

Ok let me be the first to complain. First, the style is pretty slick; I like it!

My only complaint is that you're not using the default smilies directory which means I have to have 2 copies of all of my smilies on the server. One for the default vb which all of my other styles are using and one just for this style. Where can I fix this?

That's easy ...

Go to your AdminCP

Select Styles and Templates on (left side block menu)

Select Replacement Variable Manager

Delete the entry under Shades of Green called images/smiles

This will return the path back to your main smiles directory :D

Thats it!

Let me know if you have any more issues...

Perfect! Thank You.

I am able to upload the .xml file, but when I try to upload the entire directory, I get the error "553 Prohibited file name:" and no files are uploaded. Doesn't matter what I try, I cant get it to work.

Check with your web host. There is nothing special about these files that would preclude you from uploading. Also, I will be releasing an update soon for version 4.0.8, because the stylevars have changed a bit. :D

inshooter 11-02-2010 12:29 AM

I removed it. for some reason, FileZilla will not upload it. The FTP at GoDaddy will, but only one file at a time. I haven't seen anything like it. I will wait for your update and try again. Thanks.

I updated the theme, so let me know if you have any more issues.

Also, when using Filezilla, be sure to select overwrite the files (make sure you are in the correct directory when doing so). :)

They have added some more graphics to this version, 4.0.8, so be sure to re-upload the images.

inshooter 11-02-2010 02:56 AM

Still won't upload. I tried to upload only ONE file, and this is the error it shows. (but its the same error for every file)

553 Prohibited file name: shades_of_green_4.0.8\upload\images\shades_of_gree n\buttons\add-infraction_sm-hover.png

gator777 11-02-2010 03:21 AM

Make sure Filezilla is set to "Auto" file type

Open Filezilla and ...

Edit > Settings > Transfers > File Types > Auto

inshooter 11-02-2010 03:32 AM

That is set to Auto. I tried using a different FTP and same result. I can upload other files to that directory...can't explain it.

inshooter 11-02-2010 03:38 AM

Just tried thru GoDaddy FTP, it'll load the xml file to the server but nothing more. (I know that gets added to vB, but I just wanted to see if ANYTHING from your zip would upload, and that was the only file.)

gator777 11-02-2010 03:50 AM

I would contact GoDaddy Support and ask them why. There is no reason I can think of that would cause the upload to fail.

inshooter 11-02-2010 04:41 AM

I did, and they were able to get me thru a backdoor, but that filepath is all whopper-jawed. The path is totally incorrect for the .xml There are too many directories - at least two unneeded directories before the correct filepath which should start at \images

This is the way the filepath appeared after unzipping it:

\shades_of_green_4.0.8\upload\images\shades_of_gre en

I had to remove two directories and rename a folder from shades_of_green_4.0.8 to just shades_of_green for it to work.

They said the 553 error was caused by the filenames with the dots in it.

(FTR, I am using a Mac with FileZilla and it will not let me see into the sub folders of that file. All files within the .zip file show up as the run-on file I posted the path of above. I haven't tried it on a Windows machine to see if it is any different.)

inshooter 11-02-2010 04:43 AM

oh yeah...it works now. - INSTALLED.

I think you misunderstood the directions:

The only file you need to upload was the "shades_of_green" folder to your "image" directory. It should have looked like this...

http://yourforumURL/forum/images/shades_of_green/

Do you understand the file structure? You should have never included all the folders as they are only present to give you an example of where the folder should be placed.

myco 11-02-2010 10:39 AM

whow-nice work.
thank you Gator.

I understand file structures...lol

What I'm saying is that by using the Mac, it does not allow me to break down the folders to get to the correct end folders. All of the files appear as a long url string with the folder names attached to the front of the file. I do not have a PC to try it on right now, but my Macbook Pro would not read the file right after it was unzipped.

The weird part is, I have uploaded at least 10 other themes from here, and never once had an issue with uploading any of them (except compatibility with 4.0.8)

Yours is the only that wouldn't work.

But it does now.

I can't explain it anymore than that.

MNorby 11-03-2010 01:10 AM

love the scheme, any chance of a "shades of tan" such as desert tan an OD green type colors?

Great style! Definitely one of my favorites!

Only thing I have noticed is some smilies show up as broken links, other than that no problems.

It seems you have some custom smiles, so you will have to make a copy of them and place them in your shade_of_green image folder.

Copy from /images/smiles/

then

Move to /images/shades_of_green/smiles/

It's just that easy. :D Good luck!

Okuma Steve 11-10-2010 02:55 AM

Thanks!

Be sure to clear your Internet browser's cache, and try again. Also, try using a different browser. Once installed, it should work for everyting. :)

Try to make this template the default in Admincp. Seems 4.08 has a bug with its style properties
