I give up...Is it to show that threads are copyright..

if not, I do not get it. forums always own the content,
sooo, why would anyone need this?

when they copy the thread or use RSS feeds this copyrights will be moved with the thread :) .

and you will get visitors from this links.

If you don't want it other people do :).

thanks for reply.

Because a forum here in Europe does not own what i write on their forum. Copyright can't pass from one person to another with out contracts a simple agreement on a forum is not enough to sign over your right.

Merjawy 09-04-2010 09:06 AM

I like this

Thanks

EDIT: Works but not as I thought it would be..

It will say Original Thread showing the title and link to it .. but the title is for the new local title and the link is also for the new local thread and not the original

EDIT2: It seems to only work on the local site.. I copied the thread from my test forum to the live one and it did not insert the copyright notice at all

It depends on the content of this thread :) .

example If you attach youtube video on the thread.

you are the author of the thread but you don't have copyrights for this video.

This is not real copyrights in all cases. but in all cases you will get more visitors from this product :).

Regards,

thanks for your replay

The product take the thread title and the link and the author in the same thread.

like this

Orignal thread: MTS - Copyrights of thread, Author: o0mohammed0o, Site:vBulletin.org

it's simple . if you are using RSS feeds this information will be copied to the destination site with your forum link and you will get visitors from it :) .

I advice you to redownload the product because I edited the mod.

Merjawy 09-04-2010 11:49 AM

I am not sure about the RSS feed part
but it will not copy the copyright with it when you copy and paste the thread on another site.. It did if I paste it to another forum on same site..

Anyway I did download the updated file and same thing.. unless you updated twice.. I will try again

Thanks

Merjawy 09-04-2010 11:56 AM

Thats messed up man

Now all threads have the copyright at the end even old threads

I have to uninstall and thank God its only a test forum

yes of course it's automatically inserted to all threads

what is the problem with this ?

this is nice Feature

you don't have to insert it manually to the old threads !!!

Grimsqueaker 09-04-2010 12:33 PM

Can you please explain WHY/HOW this mod will get you extra visitors over and above those generated by the standard RSS feeds ??

I am struggling to see how a copyright notice can increase visitor count...

Why all the threads have the copyright posted when they are on my site to begin with?
but when I copy and paste any thread on another site, it doesn't show the copyright notice as it should.

Maybe I am not understanding the idea behind your mod..

You can only have copyright on creative work that you wrote or made your self, a youtube in a post is only copyright protected if its your own movie that you made.

Grimsqueaker 09-04-2010 04:02 PM

There are actually quite serious legal issues here.... claiming copyright (via automatic insertion or otherwise) is essentially fraud if you do not have the right to claim it...

I would suggest anyone looks long and hard at the ramifications of this before installing

Dr.osamA 09-04-2010 04:06 PM

thanxx bro

thank you so much for your replay .

Grimsqueaker 09-05-2010 08:55 AM

nope - still don't see why this is needed - the RSS feeds from vbulletin already have links back to the originating site..

This mod does nothing to enhance that functionality OR increase page rankings

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking your talent or abilities as a Contributor, but you are trying too hard to reinvent the wheel on this one

I use this mod in my forum, and I'm sure I will get visitors from it.

thanks for your activity in my thread.

Alucard^ 09-05-2010 11:21 AM

Interesting... i will use this, thanks!

People, stop saying that this plugin is useles... for example if you have a forum/subforum that only allow to post tutorials or another things that the author must be the same of the author of the thread, this plugin is very usefull (well, not REALLY USEFULL AT ALL, cuz you can see the name of the author in the username ><, but is nice to use this on this cases).

Sorry for my english.

EDIT:

I get a database error when i try to install this product.

Code:

Invalid SQL:
ALTER TABLE `forum` ADD `MTS_TC_ExForums` INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT '0';

that is true to a point. most sites probably have guidelines, you submit your content,
it is the property of the forum, the member would no longer have rights to what
they post, nor do i have an obligation to remove their post unless their post violates
forum policy. Just as if you submit your article to directories, once you submit,
it becomes their property, the person that submitted the article is the true own, but
he gave up certain rights once he submitted the article to the directory.

I just installed the mod, the poster is credited as being the author, and since
content on the forum belongs to the forum, then I see no problem with this.

I can understand where he is going with this, when others grab your
feed, then they will grab your link also, giving you a backlink..
am I right?

So this only posts the resource box on the member that
starts the post, right? This is what I am seeing.

also the custom forum name, is this for forum numbers
to include the box on? like 4,6,8, etc...

It would not hurt if you allowed admin to add a text line
below the resource box: ie: Posted content belongs to forum, etc...
sorta like added disclaimer to the poster.

Thanks

Alucard^ 09-07-2010 09:51 AM

I think i know where is the problem...

PHP Code:

<installcode><![CDATA[$db->query_write("ALTER TABLE `forum` ADD `MTS_TC_ExForums` INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT '0'");]]></installcode>
            <
uninstallcode><![CDATA[$vbulletin->db->query_write("ALTER TABLE `forum` DROP MTS_TC_ExForums");]]></uninstallcode

I don't know a lot of about php and mysql (less than the basic knowledge), but i think that this is executen an SQL to the table "forum"... but in my case, i use a prefix... like for example "vforum"... so this is the problem? or has nothing to do with that?

Sorry for my english.

EDIT: Yes, i tested editing the code in the .xml and work perfect, but now another problem.... i want this feature only in some forums... is something really hard to exclude ALL the forum except little forums :/ would be better if you add something to exclude all the forum... or maybe tell me what i have to edit to do set all the forum excludes by default.

Thanks.

This looks interesting, tagged for future use.

My programmer installed it tonight. Thanks, I really like the feature and the purpose sought out..

onehost 01-10-2011 04:07 AM

OP,

I have had this mod installed since Sept.

How can i verify that anyone has even taken my content that would
result in a back link of the copyright mod. These days you can strip
out any html/links if you do not want to pull them, and so far, I just
do not see any evidence this mod is really doing any good.

would like more insight on this.

Thanks

Naijasite 07-31-2012 12:38 AM

I installed on 4.2.0 the copyright link show on my forum.

But when i tested the rss feed on feedbunner. The copy right content did not display on the generated rss feed.

What the solution

Yousif1 03-17-2013 09:23 AM

thanks alot
