Limit Number of Posts&Threads in Forums Within a Time Frame

1 Attachment(s)
This mod will enable you to set a maximum number of posts and threads in forums of your choosing withing a time frame limit of your choosing.

After installing the hack, go to Settings-Options->Maximum Posts & Threads

There you can enable and disable the hack. You can also enter the minimum number of day/s limit as well as the maximum number of posts and/or threads. By default it is set to 1 day limit. You can also choose the forums where to enforce the maximum limit and which User Groups and/or Individual users and/or forums will be excluded from the limit.

You should leave that area blank as described at the setting :)

Really Nice

5***** stars

Would it possible to add in a function that will engage the limit for users who are below an admin set reputation level?

So if a user has low rep, they are limited in how many posts they can make a day.

just what i wanted.. thanks alot..

I have used this mod, but, unfortunately, this does not do what I want. When I select 8 multiple sections, user can post only one thread in one of these (selected) sections and then he has to wait another x days to post in another section . I want something, where user can post 1 thread (in x days) in each section I select separately.

Also; A bug, when I set 0 posts (to disable posts limit), it says you are reached your limited when posting a post.

I would appreciate your kind reply regarding this.

Atm I don''t have much free time to expand my mod further. And that is not a bug btw. You should leave that area blank to disable as mentioned at the setting description :)

It is not blank. It is set to 0 by default. And it restricts users to make posts.

About expanding feature, I believe there must need a little codding more. I request you, developer.

Bump!!!

This might be useful for news bots.

wow wow wow i was looking for that one

thank you so much
installed ;)

onehost 01-31-2011 12:42 AM

OP,

Since you do not have much free time, we hope you will
at least keep the mod updated.

onehost 01-31-2011 01:24 AM

I do not understand the mod. I have set it up to allow posting 2 threads every 7 days, the moment I make my first thread, then that is it; I am not allowed to continue, but if I lower the 7 days down to like 3, then I can create another thread.

What am I doing wrong?

GRE 01-31-2011 08:44 AM

I hope someday I'll have to use it, but since then I have to impose them to POST!

Nearly same problem here with 4.1.2

aileron79 03-14-2011 06:35 AM

Seems to be quite a useful mod. But I need something like that limiting the maximum number of posts within 30 minutes, as some users start spamming our forum with useless posts as soon as they have registered.

vijayninel 03-18-2011 01:59 PM

Working great on 3.8.5. Thanks. ;)

After installing this mod for a client, he reports this issue:

Quote:

...unfortunately it's not working properly, or maybe I'm using it wrong. I enabled it and set it to allow one thread per day. ...When I tried to start a new thread there, I got the error message below;

Quote:

An error has occurred...! You have reached the maximum number of 1 threads per 1 days set by the admin for this forum
Even though I haven't started a thread in that section since April last year.
So I just tried it myself, and it worked as expected. But I have never posted in that particular forum before, whereas he had - even though it was almost a year ago. Any idea why this is happening to him?

borbole 03-26-2011 02:26 PM

If you guys still need support with this, then please post at its thread at my forum:

Conehead555 08-26-2011 03:56 AM

Works perfect 4.1.4

Drache 08-29-2011 05:29 PM

It works good. but I've set thread limit 3 and post limit 3.

but when I try to post 3 threads and it won't let me post 3 posts.

It seems the thread limit count towards posts too. is there a way to fix it?

Set 6 posts and 3 threads, that will do what you want.

vijayninel 08-31-2011 06:21 AM

Working fine on 3.8.5 .. thanks. :)

vijayninel 09-05-2011 08:51 AM

Hi .. We have a problem. The product is not only counting the number of posts made but even the number of edits made within a time period. Like if the limit is 10 posts per day per forum and someone makes 5 posts and edits them 5 times their quota gets over.

Can you please take a look at this issue. Thanks. :)

I'd like to limit the number of new threads per user to one per day within several particular forums. The user would be able to post 1 thread in forum A and perhaps 2 threads in forum B. It only seems possible to set a single limit across one group of forums with this.

soujro-kun 09-29-2011 08:05 PM

I have the same problem as everybody :S I have to put more limit in posts because when I put 3 in threads it didn't work :S

excuse me my english :S

FrankP 02-25-2012 06:52 PM

I need a simple hint, I'm sure I can fix it then by myself, as some simple PHP and SQL can be done by me :-)

We want to have the possibillity to limit the amount of threads per time in a specific forum to 10. The mod is working properly on a 4.1.10, realy cool.

But when one of those 10 Posts is moved by an admin or mod to another board, the user should be able to add one more again.

Is there some scheduled query I can do i. e. hourly to implement this?

EDIT: Found in the XML. As we don't need it dynamically on different forums I will modify the SQL Statement in the Addon an reinstall it simply.

So: Thanks for the mod!
