DownloadsII Create New Thread Add-On [vB4]

1 Attachment(s)
This is a vBulletin 4 port of CyberRangers' add-on for vB3. The upgrade steps are the same as the installation ones (just overwriting all FTP files and importing the product XML with the overwrite option on).

Quote:

What does it do?
When a user uploads or updates a file via DownloadsII a thread is created or updated in the specificed forum.

DownloadsII Create New Thread Add-On, is not a stand-alone mod. It requires DownloadsII 6.0.0 or higher.
You can find it here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231427 (free)

Features
  1. Ability to global select the forum that receives the new thread and the userid of the thread creator.
  2. Ability to decide what forum receives the new thread and the thread creator based on the category of the file
  3. Option to have the thread created by the uploader or always assigned to the same user account
  4. Option to never create threads by category
  5. Usergroup permissions for being allowed to create a new thread
  6. Link added between thread in Downloads file detail (optional).

I've been waiting for something like this for a while now. Thanks for porting the mod.

I have only 1 little problem: there are no threads. Userid (correct rights for the forum, where the dl info should be posted), global data and caterogy data are setted up correctly, but nothing happen when i add a new download.

BlackThorn 08-04-2010 12:00 PM

Thanks Jelle, great job.

That's not a bug. You enabled a debugging option.
Settings -> General Settings -> Add Template Name in HTML Comments -> No

After installing this, any updated (and possibly new) files show this warning while the screen is reloading:

Warning: Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated in /home/rgf2/runicgamesfansite.com/downloads.php(1675) : eval()'d code on line 22
Also, the alert for updates do not appear to post.

Webbstre 08-05-2010 10:24 AM

First, the update posts to the threads appear to be working after all.

Next, got an MySQL error report for you. Parts of it contain the entire description for the file in the error, so first I'll give you the links to the original file and the created thread. The threads are being created successfully, and as far as I know my users are not seeing any errors other than the warnings I see before. Here is an example:

The original file: http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/dow...do=file&id=471
The created thread: http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/sho...ed-Valkyrie-II

The error report that showed up in my mailbox:

Not that nice. That's what you get when you port something in a rush :)
The database error is a potential security issue too.

I've released an update, update ASAP :)

Webbstre 08-05-2010 12:05 PM

Thank you! I'll install it now.

I may be going blind or overlooking something but don't think so...;)

Thanks Guys,

It's a separate AdminCP menu at the left side.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...chmentid=55999

If you don't see it, you didn't upload all files from the upload folder. It's controlled by /includes/xml/cpnav_dl2_thread.xml

Thanks,

What pages? This mod isn't adding any pages (except in the AdminCP). It's only using vB's forum threads and DownloadsII itself.
Any screenshots of it?

caciocode 08-09-2010 08:19 PM

This is a really good mod! Just add it to the forum.

caciocode 08-09-2010 08:51 PM

Is there a way to stop users from uploading in top level category? For example I have:

Main-category
Sub-category
Sub-category
Other-category

Is there a way to avoid members from posting in the Main-category and only be able to post in the sub categories?

rexxxy 08-09-2010 09:49 PM

Bram H 08-14-2010 08:24 AM

Anybody tested this with 4.0.6. already?:

willy888 08-14-2010 12:27 PM

works on 4.0.6

Bram H 08-14-2010 02:54 PM

Yes installed now and works like a charm again! Thanks a lot Jelle :)

Sunka 08-16-2010 05:32 PM

Any chance to create new post in existing thread instead creating new thread for each new uploaded file?

DaPro 08-19-2010 01:58 PM

This plugin does not work for me on 4.0.6. I set it properly, I left it -1 to post in a thread that all users have access to post in. But it does nothing when new downloads are added. I set it to add the new threads globally to the forum I selected. I don't think this plugin works at all.

Also, how can this be set to work so that if the user edits their file it makes a new post in that same thread. Would be great for users who want to know when a particular download has been updated. Especially if you don't plan on updating your plugin anytime soon.

yanref 08-29-2010 09:47 PM

works a treat, thank you.

@DaPro, have you allowed access via user groups?

masterweb 09-10-2010 06:38 PM

Thanks a lot for porting this hack to vB 4!, installed.

goc-forum.de 10-11-2010 08:20 PM

I am using vB 4.0.3 and vBSEO! I can`t see at the left side of the admincp the menu "Downloads -Create Threads"! I just can change these settings:
  • Always Create New Thread
  • Add link to Download Description?
  • Lock Threads?
  • Default UserID

I can`t find the menu to edit the global forums and so on?

Whats wrong? Is this addon compatible with vBSEO ?

Gn_Snake 10-12-2010 07:18 PM

It 'possible that during the creation of the thread is inserted a prefix that I created?

flutter 10-22-2010 08:28 PM

I just installed this. I don't see a box to add an image of the download. I also can't find the dowloads I put in after I've just done them. I can see that one file has been added but can't find the file when I go into the subcategory it should be in.

I'm also getting an error when I try to test another one

You may only upload or link to the following extensions:

what extensions is that?

Can you help with this, I'm completely new to vb

Igel1 11-02-2010 11:37 PM

This AddOn not work under 4.0.8 and DownloadII 6.0.6

The options "DownloadsII - Create Threads" not present.

Bram H 11-13-2010 08:51 AM

Can somebody confirm this doesnt work under 408? I am on hold to upgrade my install because of the comment in post #38

erosolmi 11-14-2010 08:20 AM

Under 408 this mod seems not working.
New thread is not created.
