Has anyone done a hack for the calendar so that when users post something via Public, it has to be approved before it gets displayed?

I guess this should have been posted under "Requests" but I didn't see it initially...

That's a really good question, I can see these calendars getting really silly if there's no moderator control.

Very much so! Especially if your target visitors are kids. So is there anyone out there willing to come up with a hack (and hopefully this would be a included in 2.1)?

i would apperciate a search engine for the calander too

That is an excellent idea!

No one else wants this Hack?? Then how about helping out little 'ol me??

ethank 08-20-2001 05:42 PM

Actually, it is a good idea. We're using the calendar to put up tv appearances for the band the sites about, so allowing people to submit appearances is important, with approval.

Um.....a few SQL queries? Probably. I'll look tonight.

Most definetly, especially for a band site with tv apperances all over the world, I can't possibly keep track :)

My solution was to just set the calendar so that only Moderators could post a public event. And that's *already* in your Admin CP.

I flat out removed the private event button from the template, though.

Thats not ideal though, cause I'd like users to post public events, but not have them showup till I approve them. I started mapping out how to do this and it won't be difficult. I should be working on it this week.

It's a terrific idea, Ethan, I'll be delighted to see it. :)

I have it done. I'll get instructions up tonight hopefully.

I hate doing instructions :) Its modifications only to calendar.php, the database table calendar_events and a new file.
