Text: On 7/1/2010 at approx. 1744 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in
Bethel responded to Scammon Bay to investigate the reported death of
Corey Akerelrea, age 17 of Scammon Bay. Investigation revealed that
Corey died of a self inflicted gunshot wound. Corey's body has been sent
to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy. No foul play is suspected.
Next of kin has been notified.

I'm not much of the crying type or the praying type. When I heard about Corey's suicide a bit of a tear came forth and I actually considered praying for him. He was a sensitive dude whom I'd chatted with quite frequently. We had our moments I suppose ==> He had his issues - I have my issues, we kinda clashed a bit at one point... That's probably TMI...

I will miss him - and I hope he has found peace and closure to the issues that had bothered him.

He irritated most of the people that he interacted with, but this is a sad, sad thing that happened.

He will be missed and I hope the best for his family.

OMG... I called him out a few weeks ago because I thought he showed some attitude with me in a post, but he said everything was cool and I left off thinking everything was OK... I can't believe it's been 20 days since he hasn't been on... I didn't think it was that long, seemed like yesterday.

i just talked with me a few days ago , on adminaddict and on adminzone , omg ,
a boy of 17 , died so young , really sad to hear , an irritating but intelligent chap , leaves the world of net , sad to hear . rip , :(

In his myspace profile his religion is listed at 'catholic' so if his beliefs are to be believed, he has not. :(

If the time stamps are correct he was on here a couple hours after posting his final 'goodbye' on myspace... my guess is his mind was made up... I do wonder what his last act here was... checking a post? sending a pm? I can't comprehend what he must have been thinking- he seemed like a decent enough guy- don't know what went wrong but somewhere something did... terribly wrong.

His last post at 6:13 am (eastern I guess, probably 2am for him?)

Read his twitter; I think it was cause of the drama in his life? He never told anybody about (Checked his myspace friends didn't know) So i think he just had stuff happen and kept it locked up inside and then it go to much and he ended it.

his Twitter updates are sad, I was reading through them the other day, it looked like he had been thinking about it for a few days. :(

I was very shocked when I heard the news. I didn't chat with him personally but I've read many of his posts around different sites and am really sad about his passing. My condolences go out to his family.

This just screwed my day, I don't know the guy but I've seen him helping a lot of people in here and from that you can tell what a person he was.

I feel terrible knowing that a man with such a young spirit who lives to help everyone else can seriously find a reason strong enough to make him do such a thing.

I'm really speechless, it feels like I lost a brother ..

Even after a few days I am still finding myself a bit shocked at this. We go through a lot of things at that age and I just can't imagine what turmoil he must have been dealing with to decide that there was only one way out.

That's really very sad :( didn't know him but if I read his last posts there were no signs for such a drama coming so no help possible :( ... we should think about how quick this sad things can happen and try to be more respectful and sensitive to each other.
