Problem reinstalling a plug-in

I downloaded an award system plugin from Cypher for vBulletin 4.0 and installed it. I was having problems with it so I installed it.

Now when I try to reinstall it I get this database error.

Quote:

Database error in vBulletin 4.0.3:

Invalid SQL:
ALTER TABLE award ADD award_allowrecommend TINYINT( 1 ) DEFAULT 1 NOT NULL,ADD award_pointvalue TINYINT( 3 ) DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL;

MySQL Error : Duplicate column name 'award_allowrecommend'
Error Number : 1060
Request Date : Friday, June 11th 2010 @ 12:14:23 AM
Error Date : Friday, June 11th 2010 @ 12:14:24 AM
Script : http://www.adultgamersnetwork.com/ad...=productimport
Referrer : http://www.adultgamersnetwork.com/ad...?do=productadd
IP Address : 76.20.125.245
Username : JNC
Classname : vB_Database
MySQL Version : 5.0.67-community-nt
It must have left table info in the database but have no idea how to fix this problem so I can reinstall it and get it working.

MySQL Error : Duplicate column name 'award_allowrecommend'

did you uninstall or write just install over the product?

you can back up to before
and uninstall the product

best thing i ever did was install the database backup mod

I'm sorry, I don't understand what your asking me?

I went to the "manage products" area of the acp and found the list of products. Since this was my first plugin there were only 3 listed. Vbulletin, Blog, and "Yet another award system". I used the drop down box and chose uninstall and hit go. Then only two products were shown.

Now when I try to reinstall I keep getting that database error message.

I appreciate the help, but adding another mod is not exactly the answer I am looking for. I just want to fix my database so I can reinstall this mod and try to get it to work right.

Before I tried installing the mod, I did make a backup through phpMyAdmin using the export feature and zipped it up. I'm just thinking or hoping I don't have to import the backup to fix this problem. It seems minor but I'm not sure what to do.

Is there someone that can help me out a little?

goto admincp/maintenance/repair optimize

run that then try and reinstall it

but a database backup would do it too

JohnnyNorCal 06-11-2010 07:44 PM

Sounds good, I will try that and give an update once I've done it.

I sure wish the developer of that mod gave better directions. I think I might have had it installed right the first time before I uninstalled it but it never showed me the new options in the admincp and also the new awards tab on the navbar was just directing me to a 404 error page.

Ugghhhh. So frustrated :)

your24hourstore 06-11-2010 07:48 PM

what awards that may help and have you posted in that mods thread about this ?

lol try 50 hacks out for a headache

JohnnyNorCal 06-11-2010 07:55 PM

Nope, did not work. I keep getting that same database error. It's like the tables never uninstalled correctly.

I'm so unhappy

"Yet another award system" 4.0.2 (I think)

And yes, I posted in that forum with no response...yet anyway

your24hourstore 06-11-2010 08:05 PM

ok 4.0.2 is not 4.03 so that may be a problem altough a lot of peeps run that mod.

i cant tell you how to go delete that table that would be a disaster, probibly host on godaddy :>

so If you can wait i would maybe someone will support that mod. but if you cant I would do this. upload 4.0.3 pl1 to your server open it and remove install.php from install/install.php

if you have all stock images and no favicone you can just move all the files in upload to their folders over writing it and install over it by going to yoursite.icom/install/upgrade.php

or here is anouther option it sounds like your board is new, if you dont have any users or just a few you can delete your database and remake it but first i would just do a database back up ... so those are the options to fix the table if you dont know how to do it in php administration

Rafa-el 06-11-2010 08:06 PM

I've installed that hack sucessfully, but as far as I remember the upgrade script make it incompatible with lower versions...

your24hourstore 06-11-2010 08:09 PM

ahh heres some help as i have never even tried to install it...do a database backup :>

JohnnyNorCal 06-11-2010 08:17 PM

Oh my gosh, I'm new to vbulletin and databases in general.

I've only done one backup through phpMYAdmin before I attempted this mod. All the other backup stuff you were talking about flew right over my head.

I'm so lost :(

your24hourstore 06-11-2010 08:18 PM

lol who do you host with?

--------------- Added 11 Jun 2010 at 16:21 ---------------

well it dont matter , where ever you backed it from will have a retore option to just upload the file it shouldnt take long if its not a good backup maybe you should make anew one .. but it will probibly be named the same thing so dont download it and over write the backup you have ..

keep them in differant places but it s no big deal only hurts for a minute man since my first instal ive done it l;ike 50 times but live and learn

--------------- Added 11 Jun 2010 at 16:23 ---------------

let me ask you this did you have to upload some files via ftp or through cpanel to your server or was this all just an xml product you uploaded through admincp?

i better go download this and look at it

--------------- Added 11 Jun 2010 at 16:28 ---------------

yes it has a few php files that you had to have uploaded also they would have to be deleted also manually to uninstall this product, also has addon css nice mod for your first install :>

--------------- Added 11 Jun 2010 at 16:32 ---------------

!!! MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR FORUM FILESYSTEM AND DATABASE BEFORE PROCEEDING !!!
Install and use this software at your OWN risk. The coders of this mod are NOT reponsible if something goes wrong with your forum.

* Usage of the Points System, and Award Automation require MySQL 5.0+

JohnnyNorCal 06-11-2010 08:43 PM

Ok I am using parcom Internet services as my host. I'm sure they have some sort of restore feature

Also, yes there were some files that I needed to FTP into an upload file on my root folder. The problem is the directions were so vague. The devs had two zip folders and one CSS text file. I only uploaded the contents of one of the zip folders because I wasn't sure what to do with the CSS file or the automation file.

And no, I did not go back and delete the files I FTPed originally. That was not in the directions either.

I probably installed it wrong in the first place, or at the least didn't install everything I was suppose to. If you go look at the files that were provided by the devs and you read the instructions you can see why I had such a hard time. There's like no info at all on what each zip folder does and how your suppose to install them.

your24hourstore 06-11-2010 08:53 PM

yep
i think its actually a two part mod the points system and the automation mod the css i not that big a deal right now. if you plan on useing the mod the files you uploaded are fine to leave there, and the other can be uploaded later. the idea is you would have actually over written the files on your server with the folders you ftp up so they dont go stay in the folder upload.. they have to be moveed into their respective folders like admincp and such. so what i would do since the table thing is not going away is fix it. you have a backup so what you need to do is on your desktop make a folder named goodbackup and place that file in it

ok then make a backup of what you have and download it to afolder called badbackup
then when thats done upload the goodbackup file and it will hopefully restore to the point before the install.

good luck i will talk at you after all that :>
