Advanced Antishout (Unicode)

1 Attachment(s)
vb 3.8 repost.

You know, that vbulletin anitshout feature doesn't work well for unicode. This product fix issue, and add flexible settings.

What this product do
  • Convert ALL topic title to lower case, if more than allowed seqient big letters found
  • Convert
    • !!!!!! => !
    • ???? => ?
    • ...... => ...
Why ALL topic converted to lower case? Because we can't know the best match for each case. So, lower-case considered as kind of "punishment"

How to install
  1. Import product XML
  2. Go to ACP -> Options -> Message Posting & Editing options
    • Disable built-in anntishout
    • Enter Letters to antishout (english, russian alfabet for my case, and !)
See screenshot for details.

Development goes here: http://github.com/rcdesign/vb-advanced_antishout . Patches are welcome.

Actually this is very nice product , I hope you can add to it anti repeating letters , because we are facing problems with those write something like " thaaaaaaaaanks , goooooood "

can you add this option

hameedacpa 06-15-2010 09:02 PM

the main problem that we are facing not the capital letters , it is the repeated letters that some users always practice it through the board , and I think that your plugin can do this if you will add this option to it .

best regards

You provided letters pattern, but not provided substitution rule. I'm not shure that there can be correct substitution for all cases.

hameedacpa 06-16-2010 11:59 PM

the substitution rule here in the case of "thaaaaaaanks" is that it must not for any letter to be repeated more than two times
why two times because there is some words contain two letters like "success"

so in the case of somebody will write "thaaaaaanks" it should be replaced by "thaanks"

I know that it is not correct for spelling of "thaanks" but at least we reduced the shouting to its minimum limit

another example " goooooooooooooooooood " , if you will apply the rule that I gave it should be replaced by " good "

this option if you will put in your product , your product will be very very nice .

those rules should be applied to the message body and the titles as well .

best regards

Please, no bold.

I don't like idea to produce words with grammar mistakes. Have plans to do another mod later, which prohibit posting, if user-defined patterns found.

it is not word or grammar mistakes , actually some users used to repeat the words in the post area to pay attention of other members , I consider this as a bad behaviour looks like shouting

for example

instead of writing "thanks" they are writing "thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks"

so we need some simple product that we can make a conditions like

1- don't repeat a letters more than X time inside the post
2- don't repeat a word more than X time inside the post

according to the above two conditions if I will define the letters or the words that can be repeated and make it like " maximum shouting letters = 2 " and " maximum shouting words = 2 " then editing posts include "thaaaaaaans" or " thanks thanks thanks thanks" will not be accepted unless the member will change his post content

best regards
