Spamming Problem
 

Hi All,

I have a user who has a Chipped modem and can change his IP Address any time he wants..

I have already banned this person about 10 times already with different IP Addresses...

Is there anyway to stop him???

I dont think there is anyway to stop him if the IP is changing
A good way to piss him of tho is to have this on

AdminCP >> Settings >> User Registration Options

Verify Email address in Registration = Yes
Require Unique Email Addresses = Yes

I already have them to that settings... I have just recieve a PM from him saying :

one of your mods banned me for f**k all , which was totally unfair , i wanted to help the forum along with the other ** staff , but thats life you to let you know i can get in anytime i wish and you know it
so keep an eye , you never know it could be ME...

and a E-Mail saying :

You can ban the ip all you wish i can get round it all day long chap ,
It would have benn nice to know what i got banned for , and then to see all the ** staff taking the p*ss BIG MISTAKE for now i will leave you all alone but i will RETURN ,

Let him come back it will get to him more than you mate

he has to make a new email everytime
resign-up everytime
confirm his email etc...

soon get bored ;)

Is there anyway I can report somewhere that he is using a illegal Modem???

all of his E-Mail address end in @blueyonder.co.uk which... mayby they will be able to track him down or something....

Tomorrow I am going to Ring Virgin Media his ISP to see what they can do... but is there anyone higher than the ISP I can report it to?

How do you know its "illegal" i can change my IP with a click of a button and i pay the bills:D

People from my site used to be on his before he shut it down... and He told them he has a chipped modem.

No... cause I know theres no god....

But what I am trying to say is people on my site know the guy (Not personally) for a few years... they know what he is capable of... I am going to ring ISP in the morning to see what they can do...

Does only the lst octet of the IP change? Tried a multiple account detection mod?

He's probably smart enough to get around multiple account detection. Your only choice may be to reason with him. Are you in email contact? Was the ban valid? Have you explained that to him?

One likes to think that a reasonable person would understand when they aren't wanted.
