So after uninstallting they closed threads by this tool aren´t closed anymore?

So this doesn´t influence the real database?

Vitaly 05-27-2010 02:03 PM

Yes. It works at permission level, via hooks.

Arcade Fire 05-27-2010 02:31 PM

Nice,

Can you make a option to close thread after a certain amount of post?

thanks Vitaly

djbaxter 05-27-2010 02:52 PM

Does this work on a forum by forum basis? i.e., can it be applied only to designated forums or can certain forums be exempted?

Being able to target forums or sections to apply it to would be an outstanding addition to this.

Why? If a topic is that popular it seems you should be featuring it, not closing it automatically. Of course, if a long topic starts to drift or get confrontational, it should be closed for those reasons, but then I would expect the moderator to post a reason for the closure.

This mod would be perfect if you could choose the forum sections in which its active. ie for sale sections on busy forums.

simple reason = performance

have you ever had thread with 20.000 replies and only found out server is overloaded just by this kind of thread?

Vitaly 09-30-2010 09:34 AM

I have somerthing similar. IMHO, that's a point of moderator to cut such threads by volumes - autoclose will confuses users.

well, i've seen private mod with similar function but with extended feature to auto-close a topic after certain number of posts and then make a new topic likely named "xxx Part 2" so the discussions can still continued. probably you've thinking a mod like this?

tech4c 10-01-2010 03:29 PM

Good Job

I second that..on hold until the option to choose specific forums is available.

Vitaly 10-22-2010 10:20 AM

Added options to enable/disable mod for selected subforums (don't use both in the same time)

Markos 10-24-2010 02:04 PM

i would like it to work in only certain sections of the forum say the classifieds so I'm going to take this till i see its been updated so it does that

Kraxell 11-07-2010 05:08 PM

Totally agree with this feature request,
meaning for each forum section (enable/disable) & (period) ?
can we have it ?
Thanks,,

I would like to announce that I have modified this mod in such a way that it affects only certain user groups. Thus, for instance, one year old threads appear as closed to new members while senior members still may reply. Thanks to Vitaly for his permission.

stator 02-24-2011 05:05 AM

thanks Vitaly very much
please, can you make a guide to how to make a vBulletin plugin?
as I have many good ideas, but I don't have the fingers to do them ;)

Rebecca217 04-27-2011 06:22 PM

Works great! Thank you! :)

kingMOB 06-13-2011 02:45 PM

Hi Vitaly,

thanks for the plugin =)

Is there a way to use the $tac_timeline var from the plugin in a conditional? I'm trying to print something only in old threads, something like <vb:if condition = "$thread['lastpostdate'] > 1095 days> or <vb:if condition = "$thread['creationdate'] > 1095 days> but I'm not finding the right conditionals. So I was thinking if the $tac_timeline could be used in this purpose.

elrafei 06-28-2011 07:48 PM

thanks

radiofranky 06-28-2011 09:00 PM

if this mod can be used during TOPIC creation would be even nicer.

for example, topic for a coupon deal, it would be nice to have the topic auto close when coupon deal expires.

cheers

Videx 08-06-2011 10:20 AM

Has anyone else noticed closed threads reopening themselves? We have one that's done it twice now in as many days. I don't see anything about it at vb.com so I'm not sure what else to try short of uninstalling this mod and seeing what happens.
