Picture and Album Gallery

Picture and Album Gallery for vB4

This is a simple mod written out of frustration with the lack of such a basic feature in vb4 (and vb3, etc....)

Features:
Adds a Gallery drop-down menu to the nav bar OR to the navtab which allows browsing AND searching of all pictures and albums on your site.

The search function searches the album title, album description, picture caption AND username.

Note: If guest permission AdminCP->Usergroups->UserGroup Manager->Unregistered/Not Logged In->Can View Albums is "yes" then they will be able to browse album and picture thumbnails - they may NOT be able to view the full-size pictures. To hide the gallery menu from guest see Settings below.

The gallery and menu is phrased.

Tested with Vbulletin 4.0.2/3 (note: earlier versions have not been tested and are not supported) AND vBadvanced 4 beta1.

Settings:
None are needed - it does what it says on the tin :p.

AdminCP->Options->User Profile:Album Options "Pictures Per Page" and "Albums Per Page" control the number of thumbnails displayed per page in each gallery type.

If you get images overlapping the borders then you have inconsistent thumbnail sizes - you need to:
AdminCP->Maintenance->Update Counters->Rebuild Attachment Thumbnails

If you want to hide the Gallery menu from guests then edit the Gallery navbar (or navtab) popup menu plugin and change $allowguests = from true to false

Installation
  1. Unzip the download package and copy the contents of the UPLOAD folder into your forum folder.
  2. Go to the VB AdminCP->Plugins & Products click "Manage Products". The click "Add/ImportProduct" at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click "Browse" button and point to the product-gallery-(etc).XML file included in this ZIP package.
  4. Click "Import"
  5. Once the gallery import is complete, click "Add/Import Product" again and select EITHER product_gallery_navtab-xxx.xml OR product_gallery_navbar-xxx.xml depending on where you want the gallery menu to appear (navbar or navtab).
... all done

Updates

To update from an older version you MUST uninstall the product (admincp->manage products: delete Picture and Album Gallery). Then re-install as above.

v1.08
tested on vb4.0.3
v1.07
Fixed navtab menu - picture and album URLS swapped

Converted navtab/bar into products to make installation easier.
v1.06
Due to popular demand added navtab drop down menu (with help from
TimberFloorAu :))
Cleaned up code and templates
v1.05
Phrased menu items - upgrade is not required unless you use other languages.

v1.04b
fixed database connection issue

deleted unused template from product xml
v1.03b
Changed permissions to allow guests to view thumbnail galleries

Added phrasing for main gallery code.
Removed navbar template - replaced by plug-in code
Changed album display template from albumbit to album_latestbit (it works better!)
Various template mods to clean up display
v1.02b
Wasn't remembering search query between pages.

This is my first "proper" product so comment/criticism/etc is welcome :)

Is there any ScreenShot ? ? ?

archet1337 03-10-2010 11:47 AM

Installed it as instruced but can't find the options under User Profile:Album Options

Can't see any changes to either navbar nor album.

War.Frog 03-10-2010 11:51 AM

This looks very interesting...it's ridiculous that this basic feature isn't in vb4. Tagged for install!

starman? 03-10-2010 11:59 AM

Installed and working except I get a blank screen selecting the 2nd menu item ALBUMS.

"tagged"

This amazes me that one can spend the amount you do on the CMS package and not get a "gallery" etc ........................ looking at the plog ....... it can maybe be inegrated into v4

Do you see the header/footer/etc with nothing in the center or is the entire screen blank?

Double check you have uploaded the albumall.php file to your forum directory?

The options are the standard vb options found in AdminCP->Options->User Profile:Album Options

Check the product is installed properly - there should be a plugin called "Gallery Popup Menu" listed in the plug in manager, There is no change to the album - just a new menu item on the navbar (obviously, if you have a custom navbar template without the correct template hook then it won't work :()

I've just installed it again on a clean vb system and works OK- what version vb are you using?

During the install I noticed that I hadn't set the vb dependencies (fixed now) so you would have been able to install it on pre- 4.0.2 versions - and I haven't tested with them :( so it may not work (the solution is obvious - upgrade!)

Olli2k 03-10-2010 02:25 PM

Same Problem here, v402: allalbum.php = blank white page.

starman? 03-10-2010 02:27 PM

I am running 4.0.2. I followed the instructions exactly and checked plug-in manager etc Still get a totally blank screen. Now with at least 3 other members on this board identifying this error there must be something wrong somewhere.

abroad 03-10-2010 02:28 PM

finally somebody is working on this feature! You are the best!

fiebremarina 03-10-2010 02:31 PM

White page also here v4.02

alpertunga688 03-10-2010 02:33 PM

DeMonViTo 03-10-2010 02:44 PM

Hi, Picture Gallery Work for me.

All Album no. I go to link but have blank screen.

You can check here : http://www.phica.net/forums/albumall.php?

I try reupload xml and file.

Thx for help

HCGB 03-10-2010 03:13 PM

I get the message :) it will be something simple- it always is!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to duplicate the problem on two different "clean" install test sites - that makes it kinda hard to fix it!

Anyone willing to do some testing for me - nothing tricky, just a matter of uploading a modified script and telling me what it says? PM me if you want to help.

Robru 03-10-2010 03:21 PM

Very nice mod but I get a white page when click on albumall.php :)

VonDoom 03-10-2010 03:33 PM

starman? 03-10-2010 03:38 PM

I just downloaded and installed the new version and it now works. No white screen. Thanks very much.

i have a [Suggestion] Language phrases when i run multilang site..
Any planes to upgrade it... ?

This is a must have addon ... Well done "Hat off"

Alien 03-10-2010 04:04 PM

Is there an option available not to do the auto-edits, if you do not use the built-in vBulletin navigation system?

Or a plug-in I should disable? Once that's resolved, I'll be taking advantage of this immediately!

archet1337 03-10-2010 04:09 PM

Could someone be kind enough to post the code for the navbar dropdown?

War.Frog 03-10-2010 04:15 PM

Just installed on my 4.02 PL1 site and it works perfectly. Great mod.

Interesting, I did that twice and the third time it worked.

Looks good. Marking as installed.

archet1337 03-10-2010 04:28 PM

I have uploaded the files to forum root and imported the xml file.

Dropdown menu isn't showing and when I try to access the files directly i get the following messages:

albumall.php
PHP Code:

Warningarray_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #2 is not an array in [path]/global.php(29) : eval()'d code on line 625

Sounds like the install isn't correct. Check the plugin manager lists the gallery menu and that the picall.php file is in your forum directory.

Yes, once i work out how to use the phrasing system I'll do it!

There are no edits made to any vb files or templates and only a single hook location is used in the navbar. You could disable the gallery plugi-n and edit the scripts to substitute your own navbar, etc, then call the PHP scripts directly from your own code.

Just to be sure I uninstalled it and installed again. No error. Product Installed.

Both files is in my forum /root

In plugin manager "Gallery popup menu" is listed as active.

Still nothing.. this is weird.

Hey,

Doesn't the act of calling that hook use resources, or am I mistaken? I'd like a way to disable this mod attempting to use that hook, and just add all the nav links myself manually into my system.

Kolbi 03-10-2010 06:10 PM

thank you!!!

Works for me...

Perhaps a Tab at the Top could be nice:
Content Forum Gallery

Disable the Gallery popup menu navbar plug-in in the plug in manager (set Plug in is Active to No) and then add direct links to the gallery PHP scripts in your own navigation e.g. your_forum_home_page_url/albumall.php and your_forum_home_page_url/picall.php.

Yes, it is weird :) If the gallery menu isn't appearing in the navbar then the hook location isn't in the navbar template (or the vb system has been severely hacked). try disabling any other nav mods you have.

Kolbi 03-10-2010 06:12 PM

Perhaps you can phrase your hack because I would like to translate it for me to German :D
