After your upgrade, you were instructed to rebuild the search index. Did you do this? If you have many posts, we are talking about something that should take several hours long.

ChopSuey 03-06-2010 04:28 AM

I'm having a similar problem when new members register, and then post. Go to their profile and search for their posts or started threads, it comes up with no results.

Lynne 03-06-2010 04:35 AM

you probably have search queuing on - vboptions > search options > queue search updates

ChopSuey 03-06-2010 04:43 AM

Thanks Lynne, it still doesn't work.

Forum Lover 03-06-2010 05:35 AM

I also have some trouble with my search results. :(
Find All Posts

ChopSuey, did you mean similar like this?

ChopSuey 03-06-2010 07:31 AM

Hi forum lover, my problem is for both threads & Posts for new members. Try do what Lynne said with Search Queue

So you had it on? Did you then manually run the cron job for it or those old searches to be inserted will just sit there and still not be indexed.

There were three things I remember being told to do and all are under Maintenance > Update Counters - Rebuild thread info, then rebuild Forum info (it said In That Order!) and also Rebuild the Search Indexes.

ok so i must do all those and leave all the settings how they are???

Note: You should not normally need to empty the search index, however if items are showing in search results after they have been permanently deleted then emptying the index and rebuilding the search index will fix this. Search will not work correctly after emptying the index until the index is fully rebuilt. Click Here to empty the search index. Content type to index All Forums Posts Groups Group Messages Visitor Messages
Number of items to process per batch
Item id to start at
Total number of items to process (0 to process till end, 1 to just index that item)
Include automatic JavaScript redirect to next page? Yes No
Note: This is a server intensive process.

i just want all threads from the beginning of my site to show when Search is done.
THANKS :)

Create a new cron job called Search Queue (or whatever you want to call it), set it to run every 10 minutes and set the filename to be (no quotes) "./includes/cron/queueprocessor.php" and Save. Run.

Can you do just the one for search... um, sure. I'm just telling you what was displayed on my screen after my upgrade. I did all three. I don't know what will happen if you just do the search, but you are the admin and can do whatever you want.

ChopSuey 03-07-2010 08:15 PM

Thanks Lynne i read a post on vb.com about it, from Shawn. Working now :D I should fix it up on the boards i've turn queue search on loll.

Can i leave it on along with the cron job?

Aclikyano 03-07-2010 09:59 PM

thanks alot... this is taking forever to rebuild for search but my members complain about not finding things except for year 2010 results since upgrade! :)

you really are the best!! cant count how many times you have helped me...

vboptions > message searching options > max search results.
