Thread Necromancy Record Broken!

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...=1#post1939395

Leo just broke the all time necro'd thread record, last post before his was nearly 10 years old. Let's give him a medal! :D

mandingo 03-04-2010 12:34 PM

wow, 10 years .lol.

BSMedia 03-04-2010 01:01 PM

and it deserved it's own serperate thread...

Must be pretty epic.

Marco van Herwaarden 03-04-2010 01:19 PM

Why not post this on vBulleitn.com, instead of posting here about a thread on another site?

Speysider 03-04-2010 01:30 PM

There's more chance it would be locked on vb.com than on here.

Anseur 03-04-2010 01:54 PM

hmm, I'd hazzard a guess replies like 'thanks for the info' that are out of context like that are proboably from xrumer or similar bots testing the water for spamming. they might do it so they have a postcount of 1, which on some forums may give them access to then make their own threads. (a common anti-spam permissions setup) so I would guess it was just another bot.

Lol, that is not really a convincing reason to post it here, on the contrary. :D :D

Speysider 03-04-2010 02:27 PM

lol Marco.
It's an interesting discussion point about why bots decide to necro threads that were created at the time of the forums being created than spam recent topics.

@Anseur: I searched that user's post for the same reason, but it didn't come up on other forums :(

KevinL 03-04-2010 06:06 PM

thanks for the info

sunilvarma 03-04-2010 07:24 PM

i think the search system is to be blamed here. users new to vB don't really pay attention to timestamps and such.

ericgtr 03-04-2010 07:46 PM

Just goes to show that if you don't prevent it, people will exploit it.

toonysnn 03-04-2010 09:58 PM

Or 9 years... who did the math here? :)
Pretty funny, though.

Speysider 03-06-2010 01:46 PM

Yeah. There should be some sort of system that only searches for threads within a year of the last post. Older threads don't appear on searches

gamerfu 03-16-2010 04:50 AM

Epic.

ChopSuey 03-16-2010 11:45 AM

He must've used google. Google always brings up OLD posts!

That is highly possible, however I believe we should spam the champ's VMs and ask about their Epic Necromancing skillz? :D

that's not spammer, however alot of time it is, even when they just have something like "thanks for the info", makesure you check the user profile, alot of times that's where the actual spam is...
