[DBTech] Username Change v1 (vB4)
1 Attachment(s)
What is Username Change?
Username Change is Brought to you by the Designer of products such as RPG Inferno and Inferno vBShout and the programmer of RPG Integration v3. Username Change from DragonByte Tech is a modification designed to allow users to change their usernames at will (within your configured limits, of course). About Username Change Your members will no longer bug you for username changes, you can let them change it whenever they want! It also has a history feature in the member profile, showing a list of previous usernames. This history feature uses vBulletin's own Profile Change history - no additional tables needed! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you like this mod please hit the https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2015/08/1.png button to the right ----> Please remember to click the, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2015/08/2.png button to the right if you installed the mod ----> What does 'Marking As Installed' do ? * It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available. * For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention. * Marking a modification as installed also helps us know how many people are using our work, giving us extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications. We appreciate the support! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Priority support is handled at the Developers Website. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feature List

nice - tagged for install.

One thing I forgot to include in the original description:
Unlike previous Username Changes mods, I use vBulletin's own "profile change history" to fetch the history - no additional tables needed! Fillip |
Is it possible to have only a certain UserGroup be able to edit the username? I have a 100k+ forum and I'm the only one who can do it currently (through AdminCP), but I want my moderators to be able to update people's user names. Or better yet, is there a plugin that allows certain usergroups update user profiles? Currently vB allows moderators to login to ModCP but they cannot save any profile.
Thanks |
Another nice hack :)

I do not see how to change the username from the user cp.
Edit: It is under EDIT PROFILE. Might want to clarify above. |

It is on both sides of the table. |

I'm not sure if this can be fixed :( Fillip |
u wanna post a screenshot of ADMIN CP option please.

Options needed -
Ability to have users change their username once. This option should not be in days. Thanks! Tagged, installed and nominated. |
Is it possible to specify which usergroups can change their usernames on their own?
|
Yes, you can set different options per usergroup including who can change their own username, who can change other peoples, and how often they can change their username =)

I'd recommend just setting the days option to an absurdly high number :p Fillip |
I just installed this and went into my profile. It says I changed my username on 2/14, but I didn't... is there a way to reset the last time someone changed their name?
|
No, because it uses vBulletin's integrated Profile Change history.
If you go into your AdminCP -> Search for Users -> your own username -> [Profile History], you will see that the 2/14 corresponds to the last time you made a change to your own username :) Fillip |
Cool Install
;) |
I can see how this would conflict with the Point Market mod. With that mod, you can add colors to your username, make it bold, etc, which effectively "changes" your username.
|
Nah, those things don't edit your username in this way. That mod just extends the "markup username" (you know, the HTML Markup option you have in Usergroup Manager?).

Thanks, Installed

This will be one of the first mod's I install once I upgrade.

Can you ask them to give a screenshot of the Edit Profile page? Unless the "Can Change Own Username" is turned off, it should tell them why they can't change their username
Fillip |
y will waith for the beta to pass and then instal it :D

I've found the bug, it'll be fixed shortly. I'm going to investigate whether it's possible for me to add a direct link to ModCP in a user's profile before uploading the new version :)

v1.1.0 has been released, which fixes all known bugs and implements a requested feature: It's now possible to limit the number of username changes on a per-usergroup basis!
The mod is also now considered out of Beta. Fillip |

Works! Just a heads up though, when you set the days to 0 and the number of times they can change their username to 1, when the user goes to change their username they see "you may change your username as often as you want" instead of "You may only change your username once"
|
Can we set a list of usernames that can't be used by users who have access to this feature?
|
Not yet, but it sounds like a good idea for a future design.
If you want to post it over at the main site so we don't forget about it (we probably won't be upgrading the username change mod for at least another week) theres more chance of it geting taken care of. We'll try to get it added ASAP either way, as long as we remember haha! Iain |

Dunno if I can be bothered to fix it though, it's just a cosmetic issue xP I'll sort it when I have some free time. Quote:
