Hide the IP of Super Admins (now it hides it at the online list as well)
 

This mod will hide the real Ip of the SuperAdmin in posts, in the MOD CP when searching for ip''s. After you install it, go to Settings-Options-Message Posting and Editing Options. And all the way to the bottom you will see 3 settings for the mod. You can enable and disable it, you can also enter a bogus ip for SuperAdmin which then will be displayed instead of the real ip. This is ideal for privacy. By default it affects those Super Admins whose userid is 1. If your userid is not 1 then enter at the third mod settings your own userid.

Things to consider 1: This mod it will hide the real ip of Superadmins for all the posts made before, present and all the time that the mod will be installed.

2: When you uninstall the mod, the past posts made from before, will still hide the ip of the superadmin. Whereas the posts made after the uninstall of the mod, will display the real ip of SuperAdmin normally.


After a request from a customer of mine I expanded it to hide the ip of Super Admin at the online list as well. The expanded version can be found at my forum but it is paid:

I'd love to see this available for the 3.8.x versions.

Remove the following line at the mod''s xml file and test it at a test forum and see if that works. As I don''t use vb 3.8X and please let me know how it will go.

I logged as moderator but show ip of SuperAdmin. Check "Hide the IP of SuperAdmin" as Yes

It is not possible. I have thoroughly checked and doublechecked the mod before releasing it and it works fine. Sometimes it may take a few seconds before the just made post real ip is hidden. The time between the query run and finished.

Can you check all your past posts how their ip is shown? And is your uid 1?

What is the exact database error that you have?

If you want me to have a look at it I would need a temorarily admin account for your forum because I can''t fix something that I can''t reproduce as the mod works fine for me.

I have the same problem, but I know what it is now since you asked t hat. I'm the first member but vbulletin set me up as id 3.

I changed it to 3 in the xml and it works now.

I thought it could have been an issue with your uid. Glad to hear that you got it all sorted out.

I will update the mod soon to include the option to enter the id of the super admin from the acp in case it ain''t set to 1 by default like it was your case.

19 installs in a day, so I just have to ask: Why do you 19 feel you need this? Have you lied to your moderators about where you live? Or about your ISP? Are you afraid your governments may have spies on your mod staff? I'm not trying to be annoying, I am really just curious.

If you have a Static IP to know why anyone ....?

Still mod saw admin ip no change.

The foremost reason comes is privacy. Other forums have this by default for ex. Personally I don''t want the new mods in my forum to see my ip and give that info to my rival forums.

I can show all ip's

I am sorry but I didn''t understand what you mean by that. This doesn t'show all the ip''s but it only hides that of the super admin.

Do you mean it shows the real ip of the super admin? As I have stated numerous times above this is not possible after you install this mod. But you will need to give it a few seconds for the query to be run and completed.

P.s. Did you enter your user id at the box if it is not 1 by default?

You should enter an userid at the mod settings only if your userid is not 1. Otherwise you shouldn''t enter anything. Leave that settings as it is as by default it is set for uid 1. Please, read the very first post.

There is no all Super Admin id but only one.

I get a database error whenever I try to open a thread that I have posted in, this only happens when I enable the mod...

What is the exact db error that you are getting?

From the look of it it seems like it can''t find the post table at your database. Try to adjust the query at the xml file to match the exact name of your post table.

any chance you can modify this mod a bit and release it as a mod that "hides IP adress for all users, the onlyone who can see the users real IP is the superadmin".
that would be a neat module for people who would like to keep their users anynomous from moderators.

If I do that it will exceed the funcionality of the original mod.

I can still see my IP.. running 4.0.2 PL1. I am user id 1. u have enabled the program in Settings-Options-Message Posting and Editing Options.
