VSa - Flash-Image Banner Rotator

1 Attachment(s)
Info:
Easy to use/manage banner rotator which works with both, image and flash banners.

Features:
-simple installation
-specify display duration/dimensions of individual image/swf
-set destination pages/templates, and floating in ACP
-play modes: continuous, random, single per refresh
-exclude usergroups from viewing banners
-automatically add to forum navbar (can be turned on/off)
-easy manage banners
-click counter
-send e-mail form
-set if you wish to force reload on individual images

Installation:
1. Import XML file (as product): AdminCP > Plugin System > Manage Products > [Add/Import Product]
2. OPTIONAL:
- Open desired template and add "{vb:raw vsa_flashimagebanners}" where you wish banners to appear
- Go to product settings and add THIS_SCRIPT and template name of destination page

Credits and Notes:
-Part of the javascript code was originally written by M. K. Namdeo
-Only SuperAdmins can access Banner Management page
-Don't add to several locations on the same page, as it will not work
-It would be good idea to set the same height for all banners to avoid page content jumping

To set options:
Go to: AdminCP > vBulletin Options > VSa - Flash-Image Banner Rotator

If you have Flash-Image Banner Rotator for 3.x installed:
- Save your Banners to .txt or .sql, to have it in case something goes wrong during upgrade
- This product will automatically save your old data to a new table (used by vB4 version)
- Remove old version after upgrade if everything works as expected

Please report any bugs you discover.
Mark as Installed, and/or nominate/rate if you like it.

NOTE: It would be good idea to set the same height for all banners to avoid page content jumping

Hi, I installed it but its not showing.
What is the template name of the area above footer, that the regular VB ads manager calls "above footer"
I tried "footer" (no quotes) and it didnt work

mustang02 02-18-2010 06:21 PM

Installed but some of my images aren't showing up. I have 3 or 4 jpg's that don't show but a couple others work fine.

Http://buckeyestangs.com/vb is you want to see it live.

edit- Is there a size restriction? I noticed the ones that don't show are over 12KB.

I'm trying to move it to template, ad_header_logo. But it doesn't show unless I have "Add Banners automatically to forum header (top right)" selected. Any ideas?

SteveV 02-18-2010 08:45 PM

Oh yes it is here :)
This was the mod where i was waiting for before i upgrade to VB4.

I belive what you are looking for is

ad_global_above_footer

however that template will not display if the ads manager built intoo vb is off

TrailRecon 02-18-2010 09:05 PM

guests can see the "manage banners" link but it takes them to the smilies list

steve71 02-19-2010 04:17 AM

Excellent mod

Preech 02-19-2010 04:26 PM

Will this work on the CMS as well.

SteveV 02-20-2010 08:03 AM

I am playing with the mod on my test forum and the default settings below the navbar works fine.
How do it set it up so the banners show up on header1 or header2 ?
Can this mod be enabled for the CMS also because default its not showing ?

pantani 02-21-2010 04:46 PM

where do i type the ftp location of my banner plz, sorry for the silly question, but i'm not so good in this, but want to have this mod :)

SteveV 02-21-2010 05:58 PM

I have them in /forum/images/banners/name_of_the_banner_here.extension

pantani 02-21-2010 06:13 PM

Yes, but where do i wright this, in witch box of this mod??

COL NIL SATIS 02-21-2010 06:52 PM

installed!!! how do i get the manage banners in quick links pal???

SteveV 02-21-2010 07:36 PM

@pantani go to your forum home.
click on the forum tab (if you have the Suite).
Then click on quick links and then manage banners.

See also the screenshots provided by Valter.

bgg 02-21-2010 07:52 PM

FYI: Admin for the banners is hidden under the forums when you login as ADMIN under the subtab of "Quicklinks".

But I added a banner there, turned it on in the setup and added {vb:raw vsa_flashimagebanners} to a template and still nothing showing up anywhere...

James

pantani 02-21-2010 08:28 PM

Installed and working properly thank you
But one more question, hou can i make the banners visible in the subforums also???
Check www.modelbouw1.be/forum.php

pantani 02-21-2010 09:34 PM

And also, do you have a tool to put banners at bottom of my forum, non rotating, just fixed banners??

Thank you

Pantani

Be noted that link is shown to SuperAdmins only.

silverfox_uw 02-22-2010 08:32 PM

how do you get them clickable, ie if you click on teh banner, it takes you to their site that you put in?

MattZ DSLR 02-22-2010 11:40 PM

I just noticed but banners overlap Chat box
Do you know How can I fix that?
When I have it on Floating "none" than it stays in the middle above chat
But when I go to right it overlaps VSa chatbox
Left pushes the chat to the right side

bhanuprasad1981 02-23-2010 03:08 AM

can we use ad code instead of images ?

silverfox_uw 02-23-2010 05:53 AM

my first picture shows up, but then when it switches to the second or third, i just get a blank and it does not rotate back to the first. Any ideas?

VB already has this function, look for Advertising in the ACP. Then select Manage Ads.

Add the URL in the field, Site URL/e-mail address.

SteveV 02-23-2010 05:29 PM

Anybody that can push me in the right direction so the banners will show in the Header1 position.
I tried several things but none works so far.

The link manage banners is also visible by guests and registered users but it will take them to the smilies page. (already said but i thought maybe he didnt see it or forgot about it).

Rafa-el 02-25-2010 03:48 AM

Is there a way to add unlimited number of ads?

Valter 02-25-2010 08:07 AM

There is no limit regarding number of banners.

I am still not getting it to work on the header1 position.
Can anybody tell me what i did wrong ?

Thanks

Valter 02-25-2010 08:36 AM

It's not proper way to add/change position.

You need to add variable to template, then activate template name and script name in product settings.

SteveV 02-25-2010 09:12 AM

Hmm ok thanks.

Added the variable to Header template but still nothing shows up.

Will try all possible combinations i know and keep on trying :)
