Vb 4.0 Doesnt Stay Logued In !
 

- When you login, you act as logued as usual, but if you go to HOME , you appear as UNLOGUED and the login and password fields APPEAR. BUT! you click in any other link different to INDEX and you appear as LOGUED AGAIN.

Make sure your settings are as follows.
ACP > Options > Cookies and HTTP Header Options

Path to Save Cookies:
Suggested Settings - just leave it as /
Custom Setting - blank/empty

Cookie Domain:
Suggested Settings - you would set this to .example.com
Custom Setting - blank/empty

As I told:
Cookie paths and domain solution tried and still having problems.

And are the two urls the same for "HOME" and "the little home icon"? Is one only yoursite.com and the other www.yoursite.com?

Do what this thread says to do and your problem should be resolved.

I was having this same issue... this is what we did to fix it... click on HOME as the admin... then by where your articles are.. mouse over the word "home" like in the middle of the screen there is a little pencil click it.. edit the permissions there.. you need to PUBLISH not only the home page.. but the articles as well

THE PROBLEM isnt that the user stays logued or not,

in the MAIN DOMAIN, it shows UNLOGUED and the fields, but in INDEX.PHP it shows logued.....

My site has same Url for HOME and Little Home Icon. (http://website.com)

Is this Normal ?

I found in my site that there are difeent between
Using www and not.

When i logged in this url : www.website.com
But when i open http://mysite.com , i'm logged out.

But www.website.com still logged in and active.

What should i do ?

If you aren't going to force your users to use one or the other (via the htaccess or httpd.conf file), then you should put your cookie domain setting as .website.com (note the dot at the beginning).

I want to make whatever member write down in their browse
(www.website.com OR http://website.com), they will land to the same page www.website.com

And there are no diference again between using www or not.

I had this same problem.

We did what it said to do above (with setting it to .example.com and blanking out the other one) and now we just have people go to www.utahraves.com instead of the utahraves.com. Adding the WWW helps for me... -shrug-

vB.com said it was a problem with our users but we know it isn't. I think there is a bug on it... but not sure.

yes, at the beggining it didnt stayed logued, when remember me was checked, but addind cookie domain .domain.com resolved the issue,

but still forum index ( home ) shows login and password fields to users, and they think arent logued.

you click in ANY other link of forum and it shows you normally logued in.

no response yet.. WE ARE LOSING A LOT OF TRAFFIC AND CONTENT BECAUSE PEOPLE THINKS THEY ARENT LOGUED IN ON INDEX.

I have seen several of these threads started and no one has come up with a solution to it.

Maybe it seems confusing. I just installed v4.02 for a client and it works fine when the WWW is in the url. But if the WWW is missing users can not login.

www.example.com = logged in
example.com = not logged in

There has to be a solution to this other than forcing a www in htaccess.
