BBR - vB Event Forums

I will no longer support vBulletin because of IB and the agile development, and they are not fixing bugs like they should. Instead they add bloat.

TAGGED! later i'll give a try ... but seems really good ...

KURTZ 02-02-2010 08:42 AM

just wondering, is this hack compatible with the FACEBOOK bridge by MR.Paint? it seems not ... :S

another question: when i tried to open a thread i saw that the time zone was settled onto the GMT time, maybe it's possible to set automatically at the time zone that we have settled into our UCP?

anyway good job ;)

Why do you think it does not work with the Facebook bridge?
I use both on my site and it works fine.

I will look into changing that. How ever I do believe that is the default calendar settings.
This modification did not change any settings. It only uses existing ones.

cory_booth 02-02-2010 08:58 AM

Is this hack compatible with EverCraft's Event Attendance hack? I read numerous posts in the past that these two add-ons did not play well together...

EDIT:

That modification does not work with vB 4.0

Tony_FPM 02-02-2010 09:12 AM

Hi BBR, Amazing man. I was waiting for this one. But i am still running on 4.0 and is it working on this one ?

I do not see why it would not run on 4.0, Please test on a test site and not a live site. I have only tested it on 4.0.1.

As I said I will look into it.

Edit:
After looking into it more the way it is is the best way to do it. I am not editing the calendars default code.
This is how the vBulletin calendar works.

If I set the event that is in Ohio to Ohio's timezone and then you travel from Maryland to Ohio you will then be on Ohio's timezone so there would be no change in the time listed. If you are in the hotel in Ohio and sign on to the site and your setting is for EST cause you live in Maryland then the time for the event will be wrong and you will be a hour late.

Further more as the user sets the time for events there is no way to change their setting for each end user. That is just how the calendar works.

You are correct. That is a bug in Vbulletin 4.0.1 as the default calendar with out this modification installed does the same thing.
The first post in a calendar thread you see is the default calendar template. I just called the default calendar template to the thread. I did not edit it at all what so ever.

The times and dates for the title are only added in forumdisplay and showthread.
That is how it was intended to work.

Other wise every time the event time was updated it would have to update the title of the thread. Thus causing a big mess when you update only the end time or start time.

Okay, thanks for the info.
Will wait for the 4.02vbulletin. Hope they fix things like this.

Do you have an idea how your mod goes with Farcaster's RSVP ?

Coincidently or not both were reliesed almost at the same time.

Will it work with both modifications installed?
I do not know I did not test that.

Will they be integrated?
I did read some where in one of his post that he is willing to work with who ever to get these modifications working together. So in due time we will get together and make these two modifications work flawlessly together.

As I just released this and he just released his. I did not have time to talk with him to see what is going on.

cory_booth 02-02-2010 10:58 AM

Confirmed...
*** NOT *** Compatible with FarCaster's RSVP - just released here for VB4.

Wow, you're faster than me. I've just dowloaded both of them and go ahead to test.
Yes, it they don't work together... :(

Thanks for that. It's good to see at least you have something in mind about this integration.

BBR-APBT 02-02-2010 11:19 AM

I will install both on my test forum later today and see what I can get going.

You probably know this already, but there is tons of talk in the 3.x forums about these two mods and their incompatabilities. Perhaps that can help locate where the road block is...

meissenation 02-02-2010 11:48 AM

When you guys say that it's "NOT" compatible, do you mean that it's not linked or that something actually breaks? Obviously there is no integration between the two at the moment but if I install both will something break or will I just not see the RSVP in my Event thread?

From what I could tell this is what will happen.

All your calendars are forwarded to a thread via this mod. The Event attendance will not show what so ever. The good thing is there is no errors that I have found yet.

How ever this modification totally disables the event attendance mod.

meissenation 02-02-2010 12:11 PM

Oh, right - because the Event Attendance only shows up on the calendar and not on showthread. Makes sense.

Installed. I can have members RSVP by posting in the thread, I can't get my members to use the calendar to post events. :D

meissenation 02-02-2010 12:45 PM

I installed Farcaster's integration between Event Forums and Event Attendance... the 3.6 version.

First thing I noticed was that Farcaster's plugin "redirect links to individual events to their threads instead (INTEGRATED w/ RSVP VERSION)" for calendar_getday_start - the very last line eval(exec_header_redirect('showthread.php?t=' etc should be changed from true to false like you (BBR) did in your plugin.

Next up is to make the RSVP show up on the showthread... There's only 3 plugins for the integration so this (in theory) shouldn't be too hard...

utahraves 02-02-2010 01:05 PM

OMG I am so excited for this install! I'll install it when I get to work.

meissenation 02-02-2010 01:24 PM

Wow OK while the first plugin was fairly easy to get it to convert the link, the showthread_complete plugin is completely foreign to me. Obviously all the fetch_templates need to be changed accordingly...

utahraves 02-02-2010 05:07 PM

Installed with no problem. If you have the previous version installed, remove it first! I had it disabled and was getting sql errors but now I'm good in the hood.

Thanks BBR!

Also: Could you describe which part you didn't add back from the previous version? "Event Summary" - what's that? My forum people liked that I had the week work of events at the top of that forum (like upcoming events for the next 5 or 7 days).

Now that this modification has been converted to vb4, I'll see what I can do to get mine working with this one. If there is a work around needed in the Event Forums script, I'd like to talk to you about integrating it in the base code.

Congrats on finally getting Evercraft's permission to post this! :)

Congrats on finally getting Evercraft's permission to post this! :)

Best news I've heard in a long time!

utahraves 02-02-2010 06:09 PM

BBR, did he respond to you when he got my e-mail or did you end up calling him?

Not a problem let me know. I am pretty sure I will have to register your variables.
I am willing to make these work together.

Tagged for now, awaiting RSVP mod integration. Thanks!

pete_brady 02-02-2010 08:00 PM

installed - thanks

reserved..this looks class by the way

scan-pa 02-02-2010 09:33 PM

All, I can say is a Big Thank You to all involved and how several coders are looking to make two separate mods work together. That is true team spirit and shows how good of a site vB.org and its users are.

Thanks again to everyone here. Well Done!

BBR-APBT 02-02-2010 10:41 PM

Updated:
v1.0.1 - Added integration for Farcaster's Event Attendance v3 (for vb4)

Please mark as installed and give it a fair rating.

Ted S 02-02-2010 11:10 PM

Thanks so much for taking the time not just to upgrade this but to hunt down the rights to do so and add cross-mod support. Super job!

BBR-APBT 02-02-2010 11:40 PM

If you downloaded this since I released the update today and you have not had this installed already you need to re-download as I left out the install code after fixing for the event attendance modification.

You have no SQL tables for this modification.

Bouncer222 02-02-2010 11:50 PM

So if we have farcaster's addon , do we need this one as well? so forums works with rsvp in calendar?

or is his already upgraded to do everything this one does?

And are the events posted automatically on the forums X days prior to event?

steven s 02-02-2010 11:50 PM

First I got this error.
PHP Code:

Database error in vBulletin 4.0.1:

I am also using Farcaster's Event Attendance v3 (for vb4)
Maybe I was using an earlier version.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the current version.
I assume it was new because I saw 0 downloads.

Now I get this error?

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/username/public_html/includes/class_dm.php on line 314

Edit: added an event and got this error the 2nd time
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/username/public_html/includes/class_dm_event.php(500) : eval()'d code on line 7

Edit again:
Reuploaded again and now it works. Odd.
