Go into

Your not running postfix, depending on what all is installed on the server, if you installed virtualmin, then yes you would be running postfix.
tail -f /var/log/maillog You can run that cmd via ssh cmd line or open the command window via webmin. |
Quote:
Code:
tail: cannot open `/var/log/maillog' for reading: No such file or directory |
ls /var/log
run that and paste the contents of the dir. |

i am only a noob to linux trying to learn tho :P Thanks again |
Run the cmd
ls /var/log Paste the contents of the directory here. |

Code:
apache2 debug.4.gz lastlog mail.warn.3.gz syslog |
Run this cmd, appears your running a debian system, ubuntu i assume.
tail -f /var/log/email.err | grep "youremailhere" In your admincp --> maintenance --> diagnostics Send yourself a email to the address you put in the cmd above. Post the results from the cmd. Run this cmd as well and paste what it tells you: hostname |
Quote:
Code:
tail -f /var/log/email.err | grep "vodkaholic1983@live.co.uk" The Vb diagnostics email says its sent fine but it i never get it ive trying loads of emails and checked the spam Thanks |
Woops, sorry bud, i fat fingered the cmd
tail -f /var/log/mail.err | grep "youremailhere" Send another email again thru the diagnostics screen. i had email.err instead of mail.err |
Quote:
ok i did the cmd and nothing happened on putty (just went to the next line but no errors! :P ) i just did the test email and i got it fine :) lol thanks does that mean its all fixed now if so what was up with it? Mike |
No, that does not mean its fixed, that cmd will simply show the results of the file and if any error was present in the err file.
Please run this cmd and then send your self a email again thru the diagnostics screen, also paste the results here. tail -f /var/log/email.log | grep "youremailhere" Run this cmd as well: hostname |

Yes, according to that msg, it was sent from the server.
Please post the results from the other cmd as well (hostname) Ok, do you have a email that does not get email from your site? If so, run the tail cmd again, but input the other email instead of yours & then send a test email thru the diagnostics screen. |

what do you mean hostname mate? |
snakes1100 the email works everytime now thanks so much mate this was driving me nuts!! lol
One more thing if you have time do you know how i can make a email account and than use it on thunderbird when i moved server i have lost my admin email Thanks |
Your best bet would be to install "virtualmin", this would be more an article based post to teach you how to add a user with email to your system.

Well its late and am off to bed i got this far than a error ;/ Code:
The status of your system is being checked to ensure that all enabled features are available, that the mail server is properly configured, and that quotas are active .. |
Unfortunately, this would again be a article based response if you didnt actually have suexec installed on the server.
Did you edit and check httpd.conf and see if suexec is there but commented # out? Try one of these cmd's and see if that module is actually loaded. apache2 -l apache -l httpd -l |
Quote:
Aye it looks like the Suexec is not installed or even on the server ;/ Edit ive found it under "/etc/apache2/mods-available" as for the httpd.conf it blank there is nothing in it ;/ below is the apache2.conf http://pastebin.com/m67e05499 Thanks Edit again All working now but i still have no idea how to set my email to thunderbird :D i have no details i can add to it plus i have no idea what this "virtualmin" is ill check out the virtualmin site now^^^ Thanks |
